Typical Gamer’s JOGO acquired Fortnite training-map studio RHQ Creative in May 2025 to add competitive map expertise to its UEFN operation. The move expanded JOGO’s lineup beyond its mostly casual maps; it was not described as a retreat from them. In an August 2026 follow-up, GamesBeat reported company-provided payout and playtime figures for four competitive maps, offering a later measure of the strategy’s reach.
Why did JOGO acquire RHQ Creative?
JOGO, the creator-founded studio led by Andre Rebello, known as Typical Gamer, announced the acquisition on May 9, 2025. RHQ Creative was founded by Quinn Gannon, known as RichHomieQuinn, and specialized in competitive training maps built inside Fortnite using UEFN. Gannon joined JOGO’s leadership of its competitive maps work.
JOGO had mainly made casual maps before the deal. RHQ brought knowledge of competitive players and training-map design, supporting JOGO’s push into a “Pro” map line. The rationale was to add a new lane to its UEFN operation, rather than replace casual experiences such as Super Red vs. Blue and Cash Heist City. May 2025 announcement coverage reported more than 400 million plays for JOGO’s maps at the time; that is an announcement-era figure, not a current total.
In a later interview, Gannon said RHQ already had successful maps and that JOGO’s tools could help amplify them and expedite development. That describes the integration logic from the company’s perspective, not an independently measured effect of the acquisition.

What are Fortnite training maps?
Training maps are unofficial Fortnite experiences designed for players to practice skills such as aiming, building and movement. Unlike maps aimed primarily at broad entertainment, they are structured around repetition and practice for ranked or competitive play. Their design may encourage players to return, but it does not guarantee that a player will improve.
Gannon’s business case, as reported by GamesBeat on August 12, 2026, is that players come back to practice. That retention rationale is his and the studio’s view; the reported figures below measure engagement and payouts, not skill gains.

How much was the RHQ Creative acquisition worth?
The deal’s financial terms were not disclosed. May 2025 announcement-era reporting separately cited an unnamed source estimating an approximately $500,000 commitment. That estimate is not a confirmed purchase price, and the available reporting does not establish a definitive transaction value.

GamesBeat’s August 2026 report said a JOGO representative attributed $652,000 in earnings through Epic’s engagement payout system to four competitive maps over the prior 15 months. The same report attributed 10.6 million hours of playtime across those maps to that period and reported a 402% year-over-year increase in playtime between July 2025 and July 2026.

- Dual Rumble Motors – Take your gaming experience to the next level, providing tactile feedback and sensations that bring your virtual worlds to life
- Immersive Impulse Triggers – Provides reactive rumble sensations using built-in motors so you can feel the action of the game*
These are figures supplied by JOGO and reported by GamesBeat, not independently verified financial accounts. The $652,000 is reported as Epic engagement payouts; it should not be read as audited profit or as a disclosed return on the acquisition. The coverage also reported 714.2 million minutes of playtime for the individual map Aim Edit Piece, a separate map-specific statistic with a scope not equated in the report to the 10.6 million hours across four maps.
The August 2026 figures describe competitive maps operating alongside JOGO’s casual properties. They support the conclusion that the competitive line drew substantial reported engagement and payouts, but do not by themselves establish the acquisition’s profitability or its causal role in the growth.
