If Roblox is stuck loading, won’t open, or cannot connect on an iPhone or iPad, start by force-closing the app and reopening it, then restart the device and check for updates. After those low-risk steps, follow the branch that matches the exact symptom: an App Store update loop, “No Network” or error 279, or Low Memory Warning (error 292). No single fix is guaranteed; if the problem persists, Roblox Support may need your device and error details.
Try these basic fixes first
- Check compatibility and install updates. Roblox’s mobile requirements page says Apple devices need iOS or iPadOS 14 or later and lists supported device models. Requirements can change, so check the live page and the App Store listing for your device. Install any available Roblox app and iOS or iPadOS updates.
- Force-close Roblox, then open it again. On a device with a Home button, open the app switcher using that button. On newer devices, use the app-switcher gesture. Swipe Roblox away to close it, then reopen the app. Roblox recommends this as an early troubleshooting step in its iOS troubleshooting guide.
- Restart the iPhone or iPad. Restart steps differ by model; use Apple’s current instructions for your device if you are unsure. Roblox includes a restart in its general iOS and connection-error guidance.
- Check the device’s date and time. Make sure both are accurate; Roblox includes this check in its iOS troubleshooting steps.
- Reinstall Roblox if the simpler steps do not help. Before deleting the app, make sure you know your sign-in details and can access the account. Then remove Roblox, reinstall it from the App Store, and try again.
If the App Store keeps showing “Open” but Roblox asks you to update
This is an update loop: the app and App Store appear to disagree about whether Roblox is current. Roblox’s update-loop instructions recommend refreshing the App Store cache, then updating from the store:
- Open the App Store and tap the same navigation icon at the bottom of the screen ten times.
- Force-close the App Store, then reopen it.
- Find Roblox in the App Store and install the update there.
Roblox also suggests enabling automatic app updates to help avoid running an outdated app version.
If Roblox says “No Network” or fails to connect
These messages point to a connection symptom, not proof that the iPhone or iPad itself is faulty. Roblox says some users have encountered “No Network” while using Wi-Fi; its guidance is to update Roblox, close and reopen it, and contact Roblox Support if the error continues.

For error 279 or ID 17
Roblox describes error 279, also called ID 17, as difficulty establishing a network connection between the client and servers. Its iOS error guidance recommends restarting the device, force-closing Roblox, reinstalling it, checking date and time, and trying a different internet connection. If the failure continues on a particular network, contact the internet provider. Testing another connection can help distinguish a network-specific problem from an app or device issue.
Roblox lists a minimum internet connection of 4–8 Mb/s in its requirements page. That is a stated minimum, not a guarantee of smooth play in every experience; connection quality and the experience itself also matter.

If you see Low Memory Warning (error 292)
Error 292 is about available device memory, not how much storage space is left. Roblox’s Low Memory Warning guidance recommends leaving the experience, closing unused apps running in the background, lowering graphics quality, or choosing a less graphics-intensive experience if the warning recurs.
Roblox explains the warning this way: “When your device is running low on memory, we want to give you the opportunity to safely exit the experience.” A more powerful device with more memory may help when warnings happen frequently, but that is not the first step for an ordinary loading problem.
