Ubisoft’s free Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad lets you explore ninth-century Baghdad through the city recreation made for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It offers an illustrated historical encyclopedia and an interactive mode with 360-degree exploration and mini-games. You can use it as a mobile app or in a browser; Ubisoft does not present ownership of Mirage as a requirement.
What the Discovery Tour app includes
Ubisoft announced Discovery Tour App: Medieval Baghdad in September 2025. It is one of Ubisoft’s Discovery Tour mobile experiences, not the only one: the company’s current overview also lists a separate app about AlUla.
Access Codex
Access Codex is an encyclopedia about medieval Baghdad, with images from partner institutions. Apple’s US App Store listing says selected entries include interactive 3D imagery and augmented reality.
Explore Baghdad
Explore Baghdad combines 360-degree views of locations with mini-games that help users gather information about them. Apple describes its narrative journey as approximately two hours; that is the store listing’s estimate, not a hands-on measurement.

How to access it
Ubisoft’s announcement links to the app on the iOS and Android stores and to a browser version. Apple calls its US version free to install and use. The official materials reviewed do not say that you need to own Assassin’s Creed Mirage to access the experience.
Apple US listing details

What it teaches—and what the setting represents
The experience focuses on ninth-century Baghdad during the Abbasid Caliphate, presented through a digital recreation associated with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It is an interactive way to encounter historical places and information, not a claim to provide a complete or definitive reconstruction of the city.

Ubisoft describes Discovery Tour as an educational series for students, teachers, non-gamers and players to explore at their own pace. The company says it partnered with McGill University’s Technology Learning & Cognition Lab to create curriculum guides for Discovery Tour. Its overview does not establish that those guides were made specifically for the Baghdad app or that the app has formal curriculum endorsement.

Ubisoft’s overview also lists a free mobile experience based on AlUla, drawing on the world recreated in Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory. That is a separate app and setting, not another mode in the Baghdad experience. The Baghdad app’s own two modes are Access Codex and Explore Baghdad.
