No. Epic Games’ current Fortnite compatibility list, checked on October 8, 2026, does not include the original PlayStation (PS1). It lists PlayStation 4 models and PlayStation 5 models instead, so a PS1 cannot be used to play Fortnite.
What Epic’s compatibility list says
Epic’s official guidance on compatible platforms and devices names PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 models among its supported consoles, alongside systems from other platforms. The original PlayStation does not appear on that list. The accurate way to put it is that Fortnite is not supported on PS1 according to Epic’s current published compatibility list. Epic’s list does not explain why the original console was left out, so any reason beyond the list itself would be speculation.

Why the age of the hardware matters here
Sony’s official PlayStation history timeline gives the context. The original PlayStation launched in Japan on December 3, 1994, in North America on September 9, 1995, and in Europe on September 29, 1995. Sony also reports that the console used a 32-bit R3000 CPU and that it sold 102,000,000 units worldwide between 1994 and 2006. These figures explain the console’s place in gaming history. They do not, on their own, establish whether any particular game could run on it, and the compatibility list is the deciding source for Fortnite.

If you own a PS1, you cannot play Fortnite on it, and Epic’s current list does not show any PS1 support. Readers who want to play Fortnite need a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 model that Epic lists as compatible, and should check that list for their exact model before downloading.
