What Chroma means
Chroma is an animated pattern color that slowly cycles through the color spectrum. It is a trait, not a separate frog breed. Thonky’s guide says Chroma frogs do not appear directly in the pond or Frog Mart; the route it describes is breeding. Thonky’s Chroma guide
How to breed for Chroma
- Tame two adult frogs. In the pond, have each frog eat the number of flies shown by the game. See Thonky’s breeding guide.
- Put both frogs in the same habitat.
- Open a frog’s information screen and tap the heart/breed control. Select the other eligible, mature adult frog in that habitat.
- Check the possible offspring list before breeding. Proceed only if Chroma appears among the outcomes.
- Breed, then check the result. Because the result is randomly selected from the possibilities shown, you may need to try the same pairing again.
Example pairings to check
Thonky lists these combinations as examples that can show a Chroma offspring. The first two colors and the frog pattern in each parent name identify the pairing; the outcome is a possibility, not a guaranteed result.

Pairing charts can vary between game versions: the community-maintained Pocket Frogs Wiki Chroma page labels its chart as applying to version 3 and later and notes that combinations may need validation. Treat the examples as leads, not as a definitive chart for every current version.

Use your game’s preview as the final check
Before spending time on a pairing from an older guide or community chart, confirm that the offspring list in your installed game actually includes Chroma. This preview directly answers whether that pairing can produce the target in your game. If Chroma is absent, try a different pairing rather than relying on a chart that may not match your version.
No numerical Chroma odds or expected number of attempts are established by the cited guides. A listed outcome only tells you that Chroma is possible for that pairing; it does not predict how soon it will appear.
