Your EA verification code is delivered or generated by the two-factor authentication (2FA) method enabled on your EA Account: email, text message, or an authenticator app. Check which method EA is asking you to use, then follow the matching steps below. If you cannot access that method, use a backup code you saved earlier; EA does not promise a way to retrieve an unsaved code.
Identify where your EA code should come from
EA supports email, text message, and authenticator-app codes for 2FA. Use the method configured for the EA Account you are signing into. An authenticator app generates a code on your device, so there is no email or SMS to wait for. Some account-security checks may require a particular verification method. EA’s 2FA guide explains the available methods.
If your EA verification code should arrive by email
- Request another code. On the sign-in prompt, choose the option to resend the code.
- Check the mailbox. Look in your inbox and spam folder, confirm the inbox is not full, and check whether you or your email provider has blocked messages from EA.
- Check the sender and message display. EA suggests looking for an earlier message from
[email protected], allowing images to display, and then requesting the code again. - Confirm the account. Make sure you are checking the email address associated with the EA Account you are trying to access, rather than another EA Account.
EA does not state a guaranteed delivery time for verification emails, so repeated waiting for a specific number of minutes is not a reliable fix. See EA’s email-code troubleshooting steps for the current guidance.
If you cannot use the selected verification method
Use a saved backup code
When 2FA was enabled, EA offered the option to view backup codes. If you saved one, use it when signing in from a new device and you cannot access your usual method. EA says backup codes are the way to sign in from a new device in that situation; they must have been saved in advance.

Recover access to your email account
If you cannot open the mailbox attached to your EA Account, contact that email provider to recover it. The provider may use a password reset, security questions, or identity verification. This restores access to the mailbox; it is separate from recovering the EA Account. EA’s account recovery guidance describes this distinction.
Try recognized-device verification if EA offers it
EA may let you verify your identity by signing in on a recognized device, launching a game with online features, and following the prompts. The option is not available to everyone and may not appear every time, so treat it as a possible route rather than a guaranteed workaround. Details are in EA’s locked-out account guidance.

When to contact EA Help
If you still cannot access the EA Account or sign in using a connected account, contact EA through EA Help’s account recovery page. Keep email access problems with the email provider and EA Account access problems with EA. Avoid third parties that claim they can retrieve verification codes.
