Valve’s December 29, 2022 year-end roundup included a “Most-Played Games” category, but the accessible official pages do not provide readable entries or ranking details. That means individual games, their order, and any thresholds cannot be confirmed from the available official material.
What Valve announced in its 2022 roundup
Valve published “The Best of 2022” on December 29, 2022, describing it as a year-end roundup of Top Sellers, Most-Played Games, Top New Releases, and other categories. The announcement pointed readers to notes explaining the criteria used to generate the lists. Valve’s announcement
The roundup was presented in the context of browsing discounts during the 2022 Steam Winter Sale, which was underway at the time. That is historical context, not an indication that those discounts or offers remain available.
Which games made the list?
The official Best of Steam 2022 hub and its criteria page are available at Best of Steam – 2022 and Best of Steam 2022 criteria notes. Their ranking text is not readable in the accessible pages covered here. As a result, specific game names, ranking order, measurement window, and thresholds are not established by these sources.

It would be misleading to supply a list or infer the rules from another year’s rankings. Valve’s announcement confirms the category existed and directs readers to separate criteria notes; it does not, by itself, substantiate particular entries.
How the Most-Played category differs from Steam Replay
Steam Replay, announced by Valve on December 26, 2022, gave each user a personal recap of their own top Steam games and playtime for 2022, with an option to share it with friends or on social media. Valve’s 2022 announcement concerns the year-end roundup, while Steam Replay describes an individual user’s activity. A personal recap is not the same thing as a platform-wide Most-Played Games category.
