In Ysabella’s office, interact with the paintings in this order: Phyre’s hand mark, ankh, rose, tear drop. The puzzle appears during the main-story quest A Work of Holy Innocents. A door-unlock sound and Fabien’s reported line, “Ooh, feel that breeze?”, indicate success; the objective should then change to “Prevent Masquerade breach at the Atrium.”
Where to find the Atrium puzzle
The painting puzzle is in Ysabella’s office during A Work of Holy Innocents, when the quest calls for finding an alternate way into the Atrium. Verona’s conversation points Phyre toward interpreting Ysabella’s artwork.
How to solve the painting puzzle
First inspect the clue paintings, then select the paintings that represent these symbols, one at a time and in this order:
- Phyre’s hand mark
- Ankh
- Rose
- Tear drop
The clue paintings show one hand mark, two ankhs, three roses, and four drops. Those counts encode the sequence from one through four; in the puzzle room, choose the painting for each symbol rather than reproducing the repeated counts.

How to tell whether it worked
After the fourth selection, listen for a door-unlock sound. The walkthrough also reports Fabien saying, “Ooh, feel that breeze?” The quest objective should update to “Prevent Masquerade breach at the Atrium.”

Check that the interaction prompt is active and that you are targeting a painting rather than a door. Paradox’s Patch 1.0.2 “Halloween Update” changelog, dated September 17, 2025, documents a fix for an interaction prompt failing on the Atrium entrance door after restarting from a checkpoint at Ryong. That note concerns the entrance door; it does not establish that the painting puzzle has the same issue or that the patch fixes every interaction problem.
