The Switch remake has revamped graphics and soundtrack, updated quick-travel pipes, and a Partner Ring for switching characters. Those features distinguish it from the original GameCube release; consult Switch-specific listings where a collectible, reward, or completion condition depends on the version. Progress through the story by chapter
The main route is organized as a prologue followed by chapters. For each section of a full walkthrough, record the entry condition, required objectives, puzzle sequence, boss approach, and optional detours separately. Keep the story-critical route distinct from collectibles and side activities so that an optional pickup does not look like a requirement for advancing.

Use a chapter-by-chapter walkthrough matched to the Switch release for exact routes and solutions. The verified source material for this guide does not establish those granular instructions, so it cannot reliably name individual pickup locations, puzzle answers, or boss weaknesses.
Before leaving an area
- Check the area’s Star Piece and Shine Sprite entries in a version-matched location checklist.
- Use Tattle on new enemies when possible, then review the Tattle Log for recorded information.
- Note open Trouble Center jobs or other side activities rather than assuming they are part of the chapter’s critical path.
Collectibles and what they do
Star Pieces and Shine Sprites are not interchangeable. Their uses can help decide whether an optional detour is worth taking: Shine Sprites strengthen partners, while Star Pieces can be exchanged for badges.

Star Pieces
Trade Star Pieces with Dazzle in Rogueport Underground for badges. Track locations by chapter and area using a Switch-specific checklist; the sources available here confirm their use but do not establish a complete location list or total.

Take Shine Sprites to Merlon in Rogueport to power up partners. Record found sprites by chapter and area, and check a complete Switch location index for exact placements; no full location list or total is established here.
Badges
Badges are a build-choice system: equipping them can change stats and abilities, including access to new attacks, greater strength, or ways to avoid damage. Consider the benefit against the badge-point cost before committing to a loadout. Star Pieces provide one route to obtaining badges through Dazzle, but this guide does not claim a complete badge catalog or recommend a specific build.

Tattle Log
Goombella’s Tattle ability reveals enemy information during battle, and the information remains available for later encounters. Tattle enemies as they appear if you are pursuing a full log. Do not assume an entry is permanently missable without checking a Switch-verified encounter guide for that specific enemy.
Optional activities to include in a completion checklist
A story-only playthrough does not cover every completion system. A broad checklist should include recipes, Trouble Center jobs, the Glitz Pit, Pianta Parlor, and the Pit of 100 Trials alongside the collectible indexes. Nintendo Life’s guide hub groups guides across these activities and the major collectibles.

Track recipes as a separate index from ordinary item collection. A complete recipe checklist should record the ingredient combination and resulting dish, but the verified information here does not establish every recipe or its ingredients.

Trouble Center
Track each request and its reward in a job checklist. Nintendo Life’s Switch comparison reports a completion reward associated with completing all Trouble Center requests, collecting Star Pieces and Shine Sprites, and filling the Tattle Log. Because the reward is tied to multiple completion conditions, treat it as a Switch-specific target and verify the exact in-game requirements against a version-matched checklist.
Glitz Pit
Include Glitz Pit progress and associated tasks in a side-activity index rather than treating it as a collectible category. The verified sources establish its place in a comprehensive guide scope, but do not provide its rank-by-rank requirements or rewards.
Pianta Parlor
Keep Pianta Parlor tasks on the optional-content checklist. The guide hub lists the activity as part of broader coverage, but the information available here does not verify game-specific prize lists, exchange rates, or completion conditions.

Track the Pit separately as an optional challenge. The verified material confirms it belongs in a full guide, but does not establish floor-by-floor encounters, rewards, or recommended equipment.

The Switch version is a remake, not an identical reissue. Nintendo identifies refreshed graphics and soundtrack, updated quick-travel pipes, and the Partner Ring as remake features. Nintendo Life also reports Switch additions including Nostalgic Tunes badges and a completion reward connected to Trouble Center requests, Star Pieces, Shine Sprites, and the Tattle Log. Keep those additions separate from GameCube instructions; the comparison does not establish every granular difference between editions.
