Space Marine 2’s two main hostile factions are the Tyranids and the Thousand Sons, a Chaos Space Marine force. The list below groups their known enemy types by faction and distinguishes regular troops, larger threats, scripted encounters, and repeatable Operations enemies. It reflects sources available through 8 October 2026, including an official Operations enemy announcement from 28 July 2026; it is not a guaranteed inventory of every variant or later update.
Tyranid enemies
The Tyranids range from numerous small attackers to elite creatures and enormous set-piece threats. Gargoyles are associated with mission set-pieces rather than routine combat spawns.

Thousand Sons and Chaos enemies
The Thousand Sons roster includes mortal followers, Tzaangors, Rubric Marines, sorcerers, and larger daemon-engine or aerial threats. Some units are specific to Operations or scripted campaign encounters.
| Enemy | Role or encounter context |
|---|---|
| Cultists | Mortal followers of the Thousand Sons. |
| Tzaangors | Chaos forces that fight alongside Thousand Sons units. |
| Tzaangor Enlightened | Majoris enemy added in Patch 5.0; a disk-flying melee and ranged hybrid that spawns in Operations featuring Thousand Sons. Focus Entertainment’s Patch 5.0 notes describe the unit’s role. |
| Rubric Marines | Thousand Sons Astartes troops. |
| Scarab Occult Terminators | Heavily armoured Thousand Sons troops. |
| Thousand Sons Sorcerers | Sorcerous enemies; individual encounter roles vary. |
| Terminus-class sorcerer in Scarab Occult Terminator armour | Added to Operations in the official announcement of 28 July 2026. It can appear in any mission where Thousand Sons have a foothold. Warhammer Community announced the addition and identifies the unit as Terminus-class. |
| Helbrute | Large Chaos threat; named as a Terminus-class enemy alongside the Neurothrope, Carnifex, and the newer sorcerer in the official announcement. |
| Heldrake | A large aerial threat in a campaign encounter. |
| Imurah | A named campaign antagonist and opponent, not a generic enemy type. |
| Lord of Change | Appears as support during an Imurah encounter. It is best treated as part of that encounter rather than counted without qualification as a standalone boss. |
Which enemies are bosses?
“Boss” is not a synonym for every large enemy. The roster includes named campaign fights and scripted set-pieces, as well as repeatable Operations threats. The official July 2026 announcement uses Terminus-class for the new Scarab Occult Terminator-armoured sorcerer and lists Carnifex, Helbrute, and Neurothrope enemies in that category. That terminology identifies a class of major Operations enemy; it does not make every large creature a named campaign boss.

What changed after launch?
The roster expanded after release. The Hierophant Bio-Titan and Trygon are identified in coverage as post-launch additions. In December 2024, Focus Entertainment’s Patch 5.0 notes added the Tzaangor Enlightened as a Majoris enemy in Thousand Sons Operations. On 28 July 2026, Warhammer Community announced a new Terminus-class sorcerer in Scarab Occult Terminator armour for Operations, available in missions where Thousand Sons have a foothold.
