Games Workshop’s November 22, 2024 reveal updated three long-running Aeldari Aspect Warrior kits: Fire Dragons, Swooping Hawks, and Warp Spiders. The announcement also introduced new miniatures for several Phoenix Lords, including Lhykis, the previously hidden Phoenix Lord of the Warp Spiders. It was an Aeldari refresh—not an update to every old Warhammer 40,000 model.
Which old Aeldari models are getting updated?
The three updated Aspect Warrior units are Fire Dragons, Swooping Hawks, and Warp Spiders. Games Workshop announced new miniatures for all three, along with returning Phoenix Lords and a new character reveal.
| Unit | Previous kit year reported by Gizmodo | What Games Workshop announced |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Dragons | 2006 | New miniatures, including helmetless options and expanded Exarch weapon choices. |
| Swooping Hawks | 2000 | New models; Games Workshop said this was their first model update in over two decades. Helmetless options and expanded Exarch weapon choices were also announced. |
| Warp Spiders | 1994 | New models and expanded Exarch weapon options. |
The predecessor years are reported by Gizmodo, not Games Workshop. They identify when those older sculpts originated; they are not sales or performance figures. Games Workshop’s official reveal is dated November 22, 2024.
Which Phoenix Lords were revealed?
The announcement paired the unit refresh with four character miniatures. Fuegan returned alongside the Fire Dragons, Baharroth alongside the Swooping Hawks, and Asurmen received a new miniature. Games Workshop also introduced Lhykis as the previously hidden Phoenix Lord of the Warp Spiders.

Games Workshop described the new Warp Spider models this way: “The new Warp Spiders look phenomenal and jump back in with expanded options for their Exarch, including an insectile four-bladed setup that looks positively lovely to be on the receiving end of.” That is the publisher’s own promotional description, not an independent assessment.
How does this fit into the Aeldari model timeline?
The 2024 reveal followed earlier updates to other Aspect Warriors. Gizmodo reports that Howling Banshees were refreshed in 2019, Dark Reapers and Shining Spears in 2022, and Striking Scorpions through Kill Team in 2024. Its reported predecessor years—1994 for Warp Spiders, 2000 for Swooping Hawks, and 2006 for Fire Dragons—show why these three kits stood out as particularly old sculpts.

This is a specific 2024 Aeldari update, not evidence that every older Warhammer 40,000 miniature is being replaced. Later franchise news is separate: Wargamer reported in January 2026 on Aeldari Corsair models, including Prince Yriel, for an Eldritch Raiders box alongside a Maelstrom narrative expansion. Games Workshop’s March 26, 2026 edition announcement centered its Armageddon launch set on Space Marines and Orks. Neither announcement says whether the 2024 Aspect Warrior kits are currently in stock, discontinued, or due for another revision.

Games Workshop’s May 18, 2023 guidance said selected older models would leave the range and that Legends rules would support many older miniatures. It also said Legends rules would not be actively balanced and were not recommended for competitive events. That was general guidance, not a statement about the fate of the specific Aeldari kits in the 2024 reveal. Check current rules and event policies before relying on an older miniature for a game.
