What’s in the Space Marine 2 7.0 update?
Focus Entertainment’s final Patch 7.0 notes identify the release as the Trygon update. Its major additions and changes were:
- Exfiltration: a new PvE Operation on Avarax. Players must reach a Mechanicus facility, extract a rogue Tech-Priest and face a Trygon.
- PvE Prestige Ranks: a new progression feature for PvE.
- Private PvP lobbies: a way to play PvP in private lobbies.
- Inferno Pistol: a new secondary weapon available in PvE and PvP.
- Customization: two new colours, plus additional cloth and hand colouring for the Bulwark.
- Season Pass content: the Space Wolves Chapter Pack and Imperial Fists Champion Pack.
- Other changes: PvE weapon-arsenal and perk adjustments, improved matchmaking in PvE and PvP, balancing, bug fixes and other improvements.
For detailed weapon or perk values, use the final notes rather than figures from the test announcement: Focus warned that preliminary PTS details could change.
What did the Trygon update add beyond the headline features?
Exfiltration is the update’s new mission, rather than a standalone arena or PvP mode. Its objective takes the squad through Avarax toward a Mechanicus facility, where it must recover a rogue Tech-Priest while confronting the Trygon. The release notes establish that mission premise; they are the reference for the final shipped version.

The rest of the update spans progression, multiplayer, weapon choice, customization and balance. In particular, the Inferno Pistol is available in both PvE and PvP, while Prestige Ranks are a PvE feature. Private PvP lobbies affect how players arrange matches; they are distinct from the new PvE Operation.
How did the Space Marine 2 PTS relate to Patch 7.0?
Focus’s March 2025 community update said Steam players could try work-in-progress content before the April release. The first Patch 7.0 PTS notes were posted on March 13, 2025. Focus described the test build as preliminary and said its contents could change; the final notes posted for the April 15 release are therefore the source for what actually shipped.

How do I access the Space Marine 2 PTS?
Focus’s Public Test Server FAQ gives Steam-specific instructions. The PTS is installed separately from the main game:
- Open the Steam Library and find Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
- Enable the Tools box in the Library view, if it is not already enabled.
- Find Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – Public Test Server under the game and install that separate entry.
These are the FAQ’s Steam instructions, not a general console access method. The FAQ describes the PTS as a separate version of the game for work-in-progress content and features, with player feedback intended to help refine updates before release.

What to expect in a test build
The FAQ cautions that PTS content may be unfinished or buggy. Progression is not tracked, levels are maxed and weapons are unlocked for each PTS update, and DLC is unavailable in the setup it describes regardless of whether a player owns it. Do not treat PTS progress or access to DLC as equivalent to the live game.
Is the Space Marine 2 public test server still live?
The available schedule information does not establish that the PTS reopened after its later test period. Focus’s FAQ says the 12.0 PTS would run until February 6, 2026, then go dormant until the next major PTS update; it does not confirm a later reopening by October 8, 2026. The 7.0 test itself was a past pre-release test, not a currently available way to play the live Patch 7.0 content.

Where Patch 7.0 fits in Space Marine 2 now
Patch 7.0 is historical rather than the current update. Focus announced Patch 15, the Anniversary Update II, as available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC on October 1, 2026. Its September 2026 community update described Patch 15 and Patch 16 as the remaining planned updates for that year. Those later releases do not change what the Trygon update contained; they place it in the game’s earlier update history.
