The mysterious Dedede lookalike in Kirby Air Riders is Noir Dedede. A published lore guide identifies him as a fragment of Zorah that escaped during Zorah’s transformation into Gigantes—not simply King Dedede in a different outfit.
Kirby Air Riders spoiler: Who is Noir Dedede?
Noir Dedede is a distinct Rider in Kirby Air Riders. In a March 16, 2026 development interview, director Masahiro Sakurai put the character’s unusual design in perspective: “For the Riders, there’s only really Noir Dedede.” Nintendo’s interview confirms the name and his place among the Riders.

How is Noir Dedede connected to Zorah?
Spoilers for the game’s story: Nintendo Life’s November 20, 2025 lore guide says Noir Dedede is a fragment of the original Zorah that escaped as Zorah transformed into Gigantes. The guide describes Noir Dedede as both a Rider and a machine. That fragment explanation comes from the guide; Sakurai’s interviews provide official context about Zorah, but do not independently spell out that specific connection.
In an April 13, 2026 interview with Nintendo, Sakurai describes Road Trip as a story centered on machines. He says Zorah was “flung into space by accident” and does not possess malicious intent. That context helps explain why Zorah’s story is not simply a tale of a villain seeking to cause harm; it does not establish Noir Dedede’s own motive or feelings.
