Seasons advance through phases that unlock content. When one ends, some progress resets, but your character is not simply deleted: many unlocks persist, and eligible items move to Eternaland or can be carried into another scenario under its rules.
Scenario vs. season: what’s the difference?
The developer describes a scenario as “the gameplay theme of a server.” Scenarios can differ in their rules, environments, stories, and objectives. A season is the progression cycle played within a scenario, so the two terms are related but not interchangeable. Once Human’s explanation of seasons and scenarios gives the developer’s overview.
- Scenario: the server’s theme and ruleset.
- Season: a progression cycle within that scenario.
- Phases: stages within the cycle that make scenario content available over time.
How does a season progress and end?
Each season moves through phases, but the schedule and duration depend on the scenario. Check the current scenario’s in-game information for its phase schedule rather than assuming every server follows the same calendar.
In its August 14, 2024 explanation, the developer described a four-week transition after the scenarios covered in that article reached their final phase. Players could remain on the current server while choosing another scenario; if the server closed first, the character returned to Eternaland. That is dated guidance, not a universal duration or a guarantee about today’s scenarios. See the 2024 scenario and season explanation and confirm the live rules in game.

What resets, and what carries over?
A season ending is not a full character wipe. In its August 13, 2024 article, the developer said character name and customization, cosmetics, friends, certain currencies, Battle Pass and task progress, weapon and armor blueprints and fragments, accessories, mods, food recipes, house blueprints, and furniture formulas were among the progress retained. Character level and Memetics reset according to scenario rules. These categories describe the article’s rules at that time; check current in-game details for the scenario you are playing.
Many season-earned items do not simply remain in the character’s active inventory. The developer said regular resources, medicine, ammunition, crafted weapons and armor, captured Deviations, and calibration blueprints transfer to Eternaland. From there, players can select items to bring into a new scenario, subject to item costs and limits. Resource Point costs vary by item and can be checked in game. Items closely tied to a scenario or Memetic Specializations may not transfer. The 2024 article also says Energy Links transfer to Eternaland and convert to Astral Sand under the rules it describes. Consult the developer’s transfer overview and the current transfer screen for eligibility and costs.

The developer’s July 9, 2024 official release FAQ summarizes the transition as moving season-earned resources and items to Eternaland. It is a broad overview; the in-game transfer screen is the practical reference for current item eligibility and costs.

Compare the scenario descriptions currently shown in game, rather than choosing based on a season length assumed to apply everywhere. Useful points to check include:

- Its rules, objectives, setting, and survival mechanics.
- Its phase schedule and expected duration.
- Which progress persists and which items may be brought in, including applicable limits.
Official descriptions establish that scenarios differ, but the live selection screen is where to verify the options and rules currently available to you.
