For a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet VGC doubles Charizard built around sun, a practical four-move starting point is Heat Wave / Weather Ball / Overheat / Air Slash. Replace Air Slash with Dragon Pulse if Dragon coverage matters more. That is a format-specific special-attacker set—not a universal answer: Scarlet and Violet singles, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE use different roles or battle systems.
Scarlet and Violet VGC doubles: a sun-supported special attacker
Smogon’s Scarlet and Violet VGC strategy guide recommends this offensive starting set for Charizard in a sun-oriented role. See Smogon’s Charizard VGC strategy.
- Heat Wave: Spread damage that can pressure both opposing Pokémon.
- Weather Ball: A consistent single-target attack while weather is active. Smogon notes that it is not stopped by Wide Guard.
- Overheat: A high-damage option for hitting a bulky target hard.
- Air Slash: Flying-type coverage; use Dragon Pulse instead when hitting Dragon-types is the greater need.
This role depends on sun, so consider whether the team can establish and maintain that weather, and how it will respond if opposing play disrupts it. The recommendation is from a strategy guide, not a guarantee that the set is legal under every current tournament regulation; check the active VGC rules before using it.
Scarlet and Violet singles: choose coverage for the team
Do not copy the VGC set automatically. Smogon’s Scarlet and Violet singles guide presents Charizard as a sun wallbreaker and lists these move choices: Smogon’s Charizard singles strategy.

- Weather Ball or Fire Blast: Choose between a weather-dependent attack and a higher-power Fire option for the role you need.
- Solar Beam: A Grass-type coverage choice that does not need a charge turn in sunlight.
- Scorching Sands or Focus Blast: Scorching Sands provides Ground coverage; Focus Blast is a stronger but less accurate Fighting option.
These are documented options, not a fully verified fixed four-move prescription. The best combination depends on whether your team can provide sun, whether you value reliability or greater power, and which opposing types the coverage slots need to address. Check the current full set on the strategy page before settling on all four moves.
Pokémon GO: raid attacks and PvP moves are different
Pokémon GO separates attacks into Fast and Charged moves, so its Charizard recommendations do not translate into a four-move main-series loadout.

Raids
For its neutral raid benchmark, Pokémon GO Hub recommends Fire Spin as the Fast Attack and Blast Burn as the Charged Attack for a Fire-type role. Check Pokémon GO Hub’s Charizard guide for the benchmark and move details. Its displayed DPS and TDO figures do not identify a publication year, so they are not quoted here as dated performance statistics.
PvP
Pokémon GO Hub treats Great, Ultra, and Master League PvP separately and provides league-specific rankings and a Great League moveset. Check the current recommendation for your league and season rather than reusing the raid pair; a raid role and a PvP role have different needs. Open the Pokémon GO Charizard guide.

Pokémon UNITE: a separate move system

Learnsets vary between games, and a Generation 9 learnset page may cover more than Scarlet and Violet. Pokémon Database’s page covers Scarlet, Violet, and Legends: Z-A and warns that move data can differ by game. In Scarlet and Violet, it lists Heat Wave and Dragon Claw as level 1 moves, Flamethrower at level 30, and TM compatibility for Solar Beam, Weather Ball, and Scorching Sands. Verify the move in the specific game before planning how to obtain it.

How to choose your four moves
- Identify the game and format. Decide whether you mean Scarlet and Violet singles, VGC doubles, Pokémon GO raids or PvP, or Pokémon UNITE.
- Pick the role. For the cited VGC set, that means a sun-supported special attacker; the singles guide instead frames Charizard as a sun wallbreaker.
- Assess weather support. Weather Ball and the cited sun strategies depend on weather conditions. If your team cannot establish and preserve sun, reconsider whether that plan fits.
- Choose coverage for actual matchups. In the VGC set, Air Slash and Dragon Pulse compete for the final slot. In the cited singles options, Scorching Sands and Focus Blast address different coverage needs and trade consistency against power.
- Confirm move and format legality. Check the individual game’s move data and, for VGC, the active regulation before finalizing the set.
