After the Lady Dimitrescu boss fight in Resident Evil Village, collect the Crystal Dimitrescu treasure if it has not already gone into your inventory, take the Dirty Flask from the altar in the boss area, then leave the castle and return to the village Altar. There, the Duke explains the flask’s significance and sends Ethan to the House with the Red Chimney. The steps below follow the sequence in the GameFAQs, GameSpot and PowerPyx walkthroughs.
Before you leave the castle
Finish looting the boss area before you head out. Two items matter here, and they are not equal in importance.

Pick up the Dirty Flask
The Dirty Flask is on the altar in the area and is the required progression item for this stage. Walkthroughs treat it as the item you need to leave the castle and continue the chapter, so do not skip it. If you have already left the castle without it, the walkthrough sequence assumes you have it before the village route opens.
Collect the Crystal Dimitrescu
The Crystal Dimitrescu is a treasure awarded from the boss encounter. It is worth taking, but it does not unlock anything. The flask is what moves the story forward, so treat the treasure as a bonus rather than a checkpoint.

Return to the Altar and speak with the Duke
Follow the path back into the village and head to the Altar. The Duke is the next stop in the walkthrough sequence. He explains what the flask means for your next move and points you toward the House with the Red Chimney. This conversation is the story cue that opens the village route, so do not leave the Altar until you have spoken with him.
Open the village route
Use the Winged Key on the gate, then follow the path back toward the village. The walkthroughs describe this as the locked route that the Duke’s directions make relevant, and it leads to the buildings where the red-chimney house is located.

Get past the tractor
The route includes a tractor that blocks the way forward. Walkthroughs use the jack handle to lift it, which clears the path to the next area. Continue through the buildings and climb the ladder into the red-chimney house.
- Carry the jack handle before you reach the tractor; the obstacle is part of the route rather than an optional detour.
- Climb the ladder to enter the house. Searching from the ground floor will not reach the next item.
Search the House with the Red Chimney
According to the cited walkthrough, the house contains a key piece that combines with the others into the Four-Winged Key. Search the house thoroughly, because the piece is the next required item in the sequence. Once you have the Four-Winged Key, the walkthroughs continue the chapter from that point.

If the route seems blocked
If the gate or the path back to the village does not respond, check these conditions before you backtrack further:
- You picked up the Dirty Flask from the altar in the boss area.
- You left the castle and reached the village Altar.
- You spoke with the Duke, who gives the direction to the red-chimney house.
Those actions come before the village route in the walkthrough sequence, so a missed step is the most likely cause. Walkthrough routes can differ between platform versions or after game updates, so if the layout you see does not match these descriptions, compare the steps against a current walkthrough for your version.
