On your Nintendo Switch, open HOME Menu → System Settings → System → System Update. The number shown under System Update is the system version currently installed on your console.
Find your Nintendo Switch system version
- From the HOME Menu, select System Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, select System.
- Look under System Update for the current system version.
Nintendo documents this route for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model. You can check the version directly on the console; you do not need an account page or another device. See Nintendo Support’s instructions for determining the system menu version.
Check whether an update is available
The System Update screen is also where you can check for and manually start an available system update. Nintendo says that a Switch connected to the internet will, in most situations, automatically download the latest system update. For details, see Nintendo’s system update information.
Latest listed release
Nintendo’s update information lists Ver. 23.0.1, released September 30, 2026. Its release note says it fixed an issue introduced in Ver. 23.0.0 that could cause software to take a long time to start, pause, or close. Release information can change as Nintendo publishes updates, so consult the page for the current listing.

The latest listed release is not necessarily the version installed on your Switch. To find what your own console is running, use the version shown on its System Update screen.
