Spoilers for Far Cry 3’s final mission and ending. If Jason joins Citra in “Hard Choices,” he kills Liza and his other friends instead of freeing them. Afterward, Citra stabs Jason to death and says their child will lead the Rakyat. The credits roll, but you can return to exploring the island afterward.
What happens when Jason joins Citra?
Citra offers Jason a choice in the final mission, “Hard Choices”: save his friends or join her. Choosing Citra means Jason kills Liza rather than freeing the captives. The game then shows Jason and Citra having sex. Citra stabs him in the heart, says their child will lead the Rakyat, and Jason dies. The credits follow. Does Jason survive the Citra ending?
No. Citra kills Jason, so he does not become the Rakyat’s ruler. Her statement about their child describes the future she intends for the Rakyat; it does not mean Jason survives or leads them.
Can you keep playing after the ending?
Yes. After the credits, the game allows further island exploration and optional missions. This is continued gameplay access, not a reversal of the ending: Jason is still dead in the story.

How does saving the friends change the ending?
If Jason frees his friends instead, Citra is disappointed and Dennis attacks him. Citra steps between them and is fatally wounded. Jason survives and leaves the island with his friends. The two choices therefore reverse who survives among Jason and Citra, as well as whether Jason’s friends escape.
