What changes when you switch Shaymin’s form?
Shaymin can switch between Land Forme and Sky Forme in Pokémon GO. The form change is not permanent: according to form-change references, you can switch back, paying the resource cost again.

What does each change cost?
GameWith’s guide, updated March 1, 2026, lists the cost as 25 Shaymin Candy and 10,000 Stardust per change. Bulbapedia independently reports the same cost for switching in either direction. These are guide-reported costs, not figures from an official Pokémon GO rules announcement.
How did players obtain Shaymin?
In its April 19, 2023 announcement, Pokémon GO said its free “Grass and Gratitude” Special Research would become available to all Trainers starting April 20, 2023, at 10 a.m. local time. Completing it offered an encounter with Shaymin in Land Forme. The announcement also said players who caught Shaymin during GO Fest 2022 could complete the research and receive another encounter. This is historical availability information, not confirmation that the research is currently available or that every account has the same form-change option.

What to consider before changing or transferring Shaymin
- Plan for the return switch. If you want to change back later, the reported Candy and Stardust cost applies again.
- Choose based on the form you want to keep. The references establish that both forms are available through form change, but do not establish one as universally preferable or give a current, account-specific route to obtain Sky Forme.
- Be cautious about Pokémon HOME. Pokémon Support says some special forms revert when received in HOME, but its guidance does not specify Shaymin’s outcome. Do not assume Sky Forme will remain Sky Forme there.
- Remember that a transfer is one-way. Pokémon Support says Pokémon sent from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME cannot be sent back to GO.
