Mary-Beth is an avid reader and aspiring writer during her time with the Van der Linde gang. As Dutch’s group deteriorates, she leaves alongside Simon Pearson, Karen Jones, and Uncle. Her conversation with Arthur
In a late-story conversation, Arthur can tell Mary-Beth that he is terminally ill. She responds with sympathy and encourages him to make the time he has left count, a moment that reflects the warmth and understanding in their friendship. Mary-Beth has become a romance novelist by the time of the epilogue. The character reference gives her pen name as Leslie Dupont and identifies her book as The Lady of the Manor. John can encounter her at the Valentine train station: they catch up about their lives and old friends, she gives him a copy of her book, and then she boards a train. The character reference also says she and Tilly remain in contact, though it does not establish how often they meet. The sources do not establish that Mary-Beth’s later encounter changes depending on Arthur’s ending choice.
