Spoilers for Diablo IV’s Act I and later campaign events. Vigo dies in Diablo IV after sacrificing himself to help the Wanderer. His final act follows a costly mistake: as a Knights Penitent commander, he accepts a bribe that lets Vhenard and Lilith enter the condemned mines.
Who is Vigo?
Vigo is the watch commander of the Knights Penitent, who serve the Cathedral of Light. He is assigned to guard the condemned mines in the southern Fractured Peaks and keep people away from the ancient ruins within them. Windows Central’s summary of Vigo’s story describes him as a commander, not simply one of the knights under his watch.

Why does Vigo accept the bribe?
Vhenard and Lilith bribe Vigo, and he allows them into the mines. That decision has deadly consequences: Vhenard and Vigo’s fellow knights die. The account establishes the bribe and its outcome, but does not give a further explanation for why Vigo accepts it.
What punishment does Vigo receive?
After recognizing the weight of his failure, Vigo gives himself up to Reverend Mother Prava for penance. She confines him in the Father’s Grace armor, which is described as painful.

How does Vigo die?
Later, wearing the Father’s Grace armor, Vigo reaches the Wanderer in the Necropolis of the Firstborn. He gives his life to cut a path through the corruption, allowing the Wanderer to proceed. His sacrifice is his final established fate; no further outcome for him is given.
