Spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and The Tower ending. So Mi—Songbird—does not have one fixed fate. Depending on V’s choices, she can escape to the Moon, be taken alive by the FIA, die in the Cynosure core, or be spared there and taken by the FIA. The two outcomes that leave her in FIA custody can also unlock The Tower ending for V.
How V’s choice in Firestarter determines So Mi’s fate
The decisive choice comes during Firestarter: help Songbird escape, or help Solomon Reed capture her. That choice sets V on one of two missions and determines which pair of endings is available. The game has four Phantom Liberty endings, but one playthrough’s branch leads to two of them.
- Help Songbird escape: leads to The Killing Moon, where V decides whether to help her reach the Moon or hand her over to Reed.
- Help Reed capture Songbird: leads to Somewhat Damaged, where V decides whether to kill her or spare her for the FIA.
What happens if V helps Songbird escape?
During The Killing Moon, Songbird admits the Neural Matrix can be used only once. Her earlier promise that it could cure both her and V was a lie. V then faces a final choice.
King of Wands: Songbird reaches the Moon
V helps Songbird board the shuttle and kills Reed when he tries to stop them. Songbird survives and escapes NUSA control, but V does not receive the cure through this route.

King of Swords: Reed takes Songbird alive
V can surrender Songbird to Reed, either by calling him or handing her over during their confrontation. The FIA takes her alive and Reed survives. This outcome unlocks the route to The Tower ending for V.
What happens if V helps Reed capture Songbird?
In Somewhat Damaged, V finds Songbird in the Cynosure core. She is severely weakened and asks V to end her life. V must decide whether to honor that request or spare her.

King of Cups: V kills Songbird
Songbird dies in the Cynosure core. This choice does not unlock The Tower cure route for V.
King of Pentacles: V spares Songbird
V refuses to kill her, and Reed takes her alive for the FIA. President Myers offers help with V’s cure, making The Tower ending available.

Which choices unlock The Tower ending?
The Tower is a possible conclusion to V’s story, not a fifth outcome for Songbird. It becomes available when the FIA takes her alive: either V surrenders her to Reed at the end of The Killing Moon, or spares her in the Cynosure core during Somewhat Damaged.
CD Projekt RED says The Tower epilogue is designed to end the game and V’s story, rather than return the player to the point of no return. The studio explains that returning would create an uncanny narrative experience. CD Projekt RED’s support page on The Tower ending provides the official explanation.
