Maxroll is an independent, third-party guide and tools website for action RPGs, including Diablo IV. Blizzard lists it among its community guide resources, but it is not a Blizzard-operated service. Players can use it to find build guides, leveling advice, tier lists, planners and explanations of game mechanics.
What Maxroll offers Diablo IV players
Maxroll publishes resources intended to help players plan characters and understand action RPG systems. Its Diablo IV coverage is useful across different stages of play: Blizzard describes community guides such as Maxroll’s as covering class guidance from early-game leveling through endgame.

- Build guides: Character setups aimed at particular stages or activities.
- Leveling advice: Guidance for progressing a character before it has the gear or development expected by an endgame build.
- Tier lists: Comparative guidance; the sources do not establish a single universal ranking method.
- Planners and explainers: Tools and articles for planning characters and understanding game mechanics.
Ziff Davis’s corporate profile says Maxroll was founded in 2020 and became part of IGN Entertainment in 2025. Its coverage also includes other action RPG franchises.
Is Maxroll an official Diablo 4 site?
No. Maxroll is a third-party resource, not a guide service operated by Blizzard. Blizzard does, however, include it in community-guide resource lists. For the Season of Slaughter, Blizzard also named Maxroll among trusted community guide resources. Being listed as a community resource does not amount to a guarantee that every build or recommendation is optimal for every player.

How to choose a Maxroll guide
Match the guide to your character’s stage
If you are leveling, choose a guide explicitly designed for leveling. An endgame setup may depend on gear or progression your character does not yet have, so copying it too early can make it less practical.
Match the guide to what you want to do
For an advanced character, distinguish general endgame progression from a build intended to push a high-difficulty challenge. A tier-list position or a guide’s stated goal is not automatically a fit for your preferred activity or play style.

Check the season and patch
Diablo IV changes over time, and a guide written for an earlier game version may not reflect current systems. Before following a specific build or tier list, check that the page identifies the current season or patch. Blizzard’s Lord of Hatred announcement describes the Season of Reckoning and the 3.0.0 update, including substantial system changes. For that update, Blizzard says the level cap rises to 70 for all players and Torment difficulty expands from four levels to twelve; these are version-specific details, not permanent descriptions of every season.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What Blizzard’s listing does—and does not—tell you
Blizzard’s inclusion of Maxroll indicates that players can look to it as a community guide resource. It does not certify every recommendation, establish that one build is best for everyone, or replace checking the guide’s version and intended use. Treat a guide as a starting point, then adapt it to your character, available gear and goals.
