This set aims to create a late-game opening for Azumarill to set up Belly Drum and attack with boosted power. The cited competitive analysis recommends it for hyper offense; matchups and viability depend on the format.

Smogon’s Scarlet and Violet analysis describes Belly Drum as maximizing Attack at the cost of half Azumarill’s maximum HP. Huge Power doubles its Attack, while the Sitrus Berry helps restore health after setup. Aqua Jet can strike with priority, and Play Rough supplies Fairy-type STAB. Choose Liquidation for a Water attack or Knock Off for utility.
How to use the set
- Look for a safe setup opportunity rather than using Belly Drum whenever it is available: its HP cost can leave Azumarill vulnerable.
- Use Sitrus Berry as part of the setup plan, not as a guarantee that Azumarill will survive every response.
- Keep Aqua Jet in mind when priority is more useful than relying on Azumarill to move first normally.
- Decide between Liquidation and Knock Off based on whether you want another Water attack or utility.
Why this is not automatically the best build in every mode
The recommendation above is specifically for singles. A surfaced Scarlet and Violet doubles guide shows a bulkier example with HP investment alongside maximum Attack, but that set detail alone is not a full doubles analysis. It is enough to show why the singles EV spread should not be copied automatically into doubles. See the surfaced doubles set for that example.

Azumarill for the announced Tera Raid event
The Pokémon Company’s announcement for its specific Azumarill Tera Raid event listed a different configuration: Fairy Tera Type, Huge Power, Shell Bell, Belly Drum, Chilling Water, Light Screen, and Play Rough. This is an event-specific recommendation, not evidence that the same moves or item are optimal in other raids. Check the needs of the particular raid before adapting a competitive singles set.
