No single rupee method in Breath of the Wild is verified as the fastest for every player. The strongest repeatable option is Snowball Bowling at Pondo’s cabin in Hebra, provided you can land strikes consistently. For income collected while you explore, selling surplus gems and materials is the simplest route. Dragon parts are a farming alternative, but the sources available here do not establish a rupee rate for them, so they cannot be ranked against bowling on speed.
Choosing a method
- You want a dedicated money session with a clear payout: Snowball Bowling, if you can hit strikes reliably.
- You are already carrying a large stock of common items: sell the surplus at shops while you explore.
- You are willing to hunt dragons and have a bow and arrows: dragon parts are a farming route, but plan on time-consuming travel and fixed timing windows.
Snowball Bowling at Pondo’s cabin
Location, cost and hours
Nintendo’s official page places Snowball Bowling at Pondo’s cabin near the Tabantha Village Ruins in Hebra. It charges 20 rupees per try and lists the activity as open 24/7. The page describes rolling a snowball at pins. The page is undated, so confirm current hours and pricing in your own save before planning a session around them.
What a strike pays and the break-even point
Zelda Central describes a strike as knocking down every pin on the first roll and reports that a strike pays a Gold Rupee worth 300 rupees. That figure comes from a secondary guide, not from Nintendo’s page, which confirms the fee and the activity but not the payout. Its page is also undated.
Every try costs 20 rupees, so a strike nets 280 rupees and a miss loses 20. Using the 300-rupee figure, the break-even rate is one strike in every 15 attempts (20 ÷ 300, or about 6.7%). Above that rate, each attempt is rupee-positive on average; below it, you lose money. This arithmetic ignores travel time and assumes the payout holds in your game.

Steps to run a session
- Travel to Pondo’s cabin near the Tabantha Village Ruins in Hebra.
- Pay the 20-rupee entry fee for each attempt.
- Line up the snowball using visual landmarks, as Zelda Central recommends. Careful alignment is the difference between strikes and misses.
- Track your strikes against attempts. If your rate stays below one in 15 over a sizeable sample, stop and switch methods.
Where the math can break down
Travel is the cost the per-attempt arithmetic leaves out. A session at a distant location can take far longer than the bowling itself, so bowling is most efficient when you are already nearby. Player-reported hourly rates for bowling circulate online, but no verified figure is available here, so treat any claimed rupees-per-hour number as unconfirmed.
Selling gems and materials
Where gems come from
Nintendo’s Japanese-language official guide says gems can be found in breakable rocks, ore deposits, and chests, and can be obtained by defeating Stone Taluses. Selling them at shops is the general method the guide describes for turning items into rupees.

What to keep
The same guide notes that materials may be useful later. It says plentiful stock can be sold because it can be found again, so sell only what you can spare. Keep anything you need for upgrades, quests or crafting. The guide does not give a keep-or-sell count, so set your own threshold based on what you plan to craft.
Dragon parts
What you need
Nintendo Life’s guide by Steve Bowling, published 20 February 2023, says arrows can be used to collect dragon parts. It recommends bringing arrows, a serviceable bow, wood and flint. Dragon farming requires a bow and arrows, so it is not an option until you have both.

Routes
| Dragon | Where and when, per Nintendo Life (2023) |
|---|---|
| Dinraal | Wait at Tabantha Great Bridge for Dinraal, around 6 a.m. |
| Farosh | Wait at Floria Bridge at night. |
| Naydra | Route not stated in the cited guide. |
The guide covers how to collect parts. It does not measure rupee return, so it cannot tell you whether dragon parts beat bowling or gem sales per minute. Do not assume selling dragon parts is the fastest route; no reliable sale value for them is established here.
How the methods compare
| Method | Best used for | Cost and setup | Evidence on rupees | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Snowball Bowling | A dedicated, repeatable session | 20 rupees per try; travel to Pondo’s cabin | Fee confirmed by Nintendo; 300-rupee strike payout from Zelda Central | Strike rate varies; no verified rupees-per-minute figure |
| Selling gems and materials | Converting items collected while exploring | No entry fee; needs stock on hand | Shop sales and gem sources confirmed by Nintendo’s Japanese-language guide; no price per gem stated | Some materials are needed later; gem yields vary |
| Dragon parts | Planned farming for players who will hunt dragons | Bow, arrows, route knowledge and timing | Collection routes confirmed by Nintendo Life (2023); rupee value not stated | No comparable rupees-per-minute figure |
What the evidence does and does not establish
- The Snowball Bowling fee and location come from Nintendo’s official page, which is undated. The 300-rupee strike payout comes from Zelda Central, also undated.
- The gem sources and sell advice come from Nintendo’s Japanese-language official guide, not an English edition.
- The dragon routes come from a Nintendo Life guide dated 20 February 2023. Later game updates or changes are not addressed in any of these sources.
- No source supplies an average rupee-per-minute figure for any method, so none can be declared the fastest.
If you need a single answer, bowling is the most concrete repeatable option, and its value depends on your strike rate and travel distance.
