Sunny Day boosts the power of all Fire-type moves by 50% and cuts the power of all Water-type moves by 50%. It also changes the accuracy, charge time, healing, stat boosts, or type and power of several specific moves. In the cited main-series mechanics, sunlight lasts five turns.
Sunny Day’s effect on Fire- and Water-type moves
While sunlight is active, Fire-type move power increases by 50%, and Water-type move power decreases by 50%. These are type-wide effects: they apply to moves of those types, not only when the user is a Pokémon of the same type. Pokémon Database lists Sunny Day as TM049 in Scarlet and Violet and describes it as powering up Fire-type attacks while lowering Water-type attack power.
Specific moves that change in sunlight
Thunder and Hurricane: lower accuracy
Thunder and Hurricane have 50% accuracy in sunlight, according to the cited move references. Pokémon Database and Bulbapedia list this weather interaction.
Solar Beam and Solar Blade: no charge turn
Solar Beam and Solar Blade can attack immediately in sunlight instead of spending a turn charging.

Which game’s rules apply?
Sunny Day was introduced in Generation II. The broad Fire- and Water-type power changes are described in both historical and current references, but individual move and ability interactions can vary by generation. For Scarlet and Violet, the in-game description says: “The user intensifies the sun for five turns, powering up Fire-type attacks. The sunlight also lowers the power of Water-type attacks.” Use the specific game’s move description or mechanics when an edge case matters.
