The Stormhawk King in Elden Ring is a Key Item with one job: you hand it to Nepheli Loux, and doing so advances her questline to its final stage. It is not a Spirit Ash, so you cannot equip it or use it to summon anything. Community references such as Eldenpedia classify it as a Key Item and describe its effect as progressing Nepheli’s quest, and the item’s own text says the ancient hawk refuses anyone’s summons.
What the item does
The Stormhawk King is a quest item. Its function is entirely tied to Nepheli Loux’s storyline, and it has no use in combat or as a summon. Its in-game description reads:
“Ashes of a hawk revered by all others as sovereign back in the days when Stormveil’s winds still raged like no other. This ancient monarch is proud however, refusing to answer anyone’s summons.”
That text is the item’s only in-game lore, and it is the reason players sometimes look for a summon that does not exist. The hawk is described as a sovereign of the past, not as a companion you can call.

Stormhawk King compared with Stormhawk Deenh
Players often confuse the Stormhawk King with Stormhawk Deenh, because both descriptions point back to Stormveil’s old days. Their player-facing roles are different.

If you came here because a Spirit Ash summon is missing, you are looking for Deenh, not the King.

Where to find it
The Stormhawk King is found at the Chapel of Anticipation, but you cannot simply walk up to it. Community walkthroughs describe one route that works in this order:
- Obtain an Imbued Sword Key and use it at the Four Belfries sending gate marked “Precipice of Anticipation.”
- Return to the Chapel of Anticipation.
- Deal with the Grafted Scion if it is present and standing in your way.
- Enter the side door that was previously locked.
- Go up to the roof, where the item is collected.
Walkthroughs differ on how much of this sequence is required, so treat it as the standard route rather than the only possible one.

Giving it to Nepheli
Take the item to Nepheli at Roundtable Hold once her quest conversations have progressed far enough for her to accept it. Handing it over is the step that moves her quest into its final stage. Guides do not agree on every prerequisite or on the exact order of Nepheli’s dialogue, so if she does not accept the item, go back and continue her quest conversations before trying again.

The item text supports three points: the Stormhawk King is a hawk, it was once revered as sovereign, and it belongs to the age of Stormveil’s stronger storms. It also states that the monarch refuses summons.

The text does not identify the hawk beyond that description. Theories that link the King to the Storm Lord or another named figure are interpretation, not something the item confirms. If you want to explore those ideas, present them as your own reading of the game’s world rather than as settled lore.
