If you do not find one in that pool, go to the lower platform and dive to reach another pool.
Dim, underground water is the setting guides identify as favorable for finding Goldenfish. The Area 8 route is the most specifically described location in the available gameplay guides. PC Gamer’s guide describes the waterfall, cave, campsite-area pool and the dive route to a second pool.

Other reported Goldenfish locations
Windward Plains Area 14 is another reported location. AppMedia places a pool near a provisional camp in the lower area. Game8 also lists Scarlet Forest Areas 2, 12 and 16, though its guide page was not available beyond search-result information, so those locations have less route detail.
| Location | What to look for | Route detail |
|---|---|---|
| Scarlet Forest Area 8 | Underground lake pool near the Underground Lake campsite | Enter through the waterfall; a lower platform leads by diving to another pool. |
| Windward Plains Area 14 | Pool near a provisional camp in the lower area | Reported by AppMedia; the available description is less detailed than the Area 8 route. |
| Scarlet Forest Areas 2, 12 and 16 | Additional areas listed by Game8 | Specific pool or landmark directions are not stated in the available Game8 information. |
Area 8 is a practical first stop because its landmarks and alternate pool are described in detail; it is not established as the only place Goldenfish can appear. Game8 and AppMedia also report Area 14.

How to catch one for Kanya’s quest
Kanya provides the Golden Bughead lure through the “Seeking the Goldenfish” quest, and gameplay guides recommend it for this fish. Equip the lure, cast into the pool, and use the fishing rod to land the catch. PC Gamer notes that catching the fish with the capture net does not count toward fishing-quest progress, so use the rod if you need the quest objective.
