Use a Moon Stone after Nidorina has learned any level-up move you want to keep. There is no universally best level: evolve sooner if its current moves suit you, or wait for a specific later move—such as Crunch at level 53—if you want it for your team.

How Nidorina evolves in FireRed

Nidorina evolves into Nidoqueen when you use a Moon Stone. The evolution is triggered by the item, not by reaching a particular level, so you choose when it happens. Bulbapedia’s Nidorina reference documents the evolution method.

Which Nidorina moves are worth waiting for?

In the FireRed/LeafGreen level-up list, Nidorina learns these moves at the following levels:

Level Move
22 Bite
26 Helping Hand
34 Fury Swipes
43 Flatter
53 Crunch

These are Nidorina’s listed level-up moves for FireRed/LeafGreen; check the FireRed/LeafGreen Nidorina learnset if you want the full move list. The level thresholds are useful decision points, not mandatory evolution levels.

Choose based on the move you want

Evolve once you are happy with Nidorina’s moves

If you do not want another listed Nidorina move, use the Moon Stone when convenient. This lets you have Nidoqueen sooner instead of keeping Nidorina unevolved for a move you may not use.

Wait for a particular move you want

If Bite, Helping Hand, Fury Swipes, Flatter, or Crunch is important to the moveset you have in mind, wait until Nidorina learns it before evolving. The clearest reason to delay late into the game is wanting Crunch at level 53; there is no need to wait that long if Crunch is not part of your plan.

A practical rule for your playthrough

  1. Look at Nidorina’s current moves and decide whether you want any of its remaining listed level-up moves.
  2. If you want the next move, keep Nidorina until it learns that move.
  3. Use the Moon Stone once you are satisfied; do not wait for an arbitrary level just because it is commonly recommended.

The right timing depends on your planned moveset, how long you are willing to keep Nidorina unevolved, and whether you want Nidoqueen earlier. A Pokémon Database community question uses the familiar phrasing “What level should I use a Moon Stone on a Nidorina?”; it is a player question, not a rule that establishes one best level: PokéBase question.
