Where to find the Dark Portal on Azeroth
Travel to the Blasted Lands and look for the Dark Portal. Crossing it takes you to Hellfire Peninsula in Outland. Blizzard’s announcement for Burning Crusade Classic identifies Hellfire Peninsula as the destination for heroes who cross the portal: Blizzard’s announcement.
Where the portal leads in Outland
The Outland-side portal area is the Stair of Destiny, in Hellfire Peninsula. Blizzard’s travel guide lists portals there that lead to Stormwind and Orgrimmar: Blizzard’s Outland travel guide.
Other ways to reach the Dark Portal
Some Blizzard forum guidance describes faction-specific mage NPCs who can teleport eligible characters toward the Dark Portal. Player discussions also mention a portal to Shattrath in capital-city portal rooms. These are conditional alternatives, not routes guaranteed for every character; availability may depend on game version or timeline, faction, progression, and quest eligibility. Check your character’s circumstances before relying on one: Blizzard forum discussion and player discussion.

If crossing the portal does not take you to Outland
The available guidance does not establish one alternate route that works for every current retail character. First confirm that you are at the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands, rather than already on its Outland side. If the route still behaves differently, check the character’s current game version or timeline and progression; alternate teleports can be eligibility-dependent.
