After you save Bretta in Hollow Knight, she returns to Dirtmouth and lives in her house. Rescuing her also unlocks the house and a Mask Shard. Her later whereabouts depend on how far you progress in Zote’s story.
Where to find Bretta after the rescue
Bretta begins in the Fungal Wastes, near the southeast side of Mantis Village. After you find and speak to her, she heads back to Dirtmouth. Look inside her house there: she sleeps in it and sometimes sits on the bench.
To reach her original location, look beyond the Dashmaster statue for a hidden passage, then follow the short platforming route. For her post-rescue location, go to Dirtmouth and check her house. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s Bretta page describes her location and routine.
How Zote changes Bretta’s story
Spoilers for Zote’s story: If you save Zote and defeat him in the Colosseum of Fools, he returns to Dirtmouth and Bretta falls for him. Her drawings and dolls of the Knight are replaced by a portrait of Zote. The Zote the Mighty page covers this change.

After the fourth Grey Prince Zote victory
After you defeat Grey Prince Zote for the fourth time, Bretta leaves Dirtmouth and goes over the Howling Cliffs. She is not seen again; her later destination is not established. See the wiki pages for Grey Prince Zote and Bretta.
