You can get a free Piano from a Day 3 sign-in reward and a Scholar’s Lute from Vernie’s Flower Field quest, which also opens the score system. Every other instrument in the fan guides is sold by Annie in the central town for gold. Playing your own songs works with manual note entry, and recording a performance to a CD is a separate system that unlocks at character level 17.
Where to get your first instruments
Most players start with two free instruments. Both routes come from fan-run guides rather than official game documentation, and reward timing can change with game updates, so confirm each step in your own game.
| Route | What you get | Cost | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 3 sign-in reward | Piano | Free | Heartopia.Life (updated July 8, 2026) and Heartopia.vip (updated May 16, 2026) |
| Vernie’s “Astralis in Flower Field” quest in Flower Field | Scholar’s Lute, and the score system | Free | Heartopia.Life and Heartopia.vip |
| Annie’s Music Store in the central town | Wider instrument stock | Gold | AllThings.How (January 26, 2026) |
Piano: the Day 3 sign-in reward
Both Heartopia.Life and Heartopia.vip list the Piano as a Day 3 sign-in reward. If you have already passed Day 3 of the sign-in calendar, check your reward history before assuming the Piano is lost; the guides do not describe a way to claim it after the reward window closes, so this is worth verifying directly.
Scholar’s Lute: the Vernie quest
Find Vernie in Flower Field and complete the quest “Astralis in Flower Field.” The guides say this quest awards a Scholar’s Lute and opens the Instrument & Music Score feature, which is reached through the Daily Life Guide smartwatch app. Because the score feature depends on this quest, finish it before looking for scores.

Buying more instruments from Annie
AllThings. How’s January 26, 2026 guide says Annie is the music vendor in the central town and sells the playable instruments below for gold. The guide calls this stock fixed, but a price list from early 2026 can drift from the live game, so open Annie’s shop and compare before you spend.
| Instrument | Price listed by AllThings.How (January 26, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Recorder | 38,000g |
| Bamboo Xiao | 38,000g |
| Lute | 38,000g |
| Wooden Bass | 38,000g |
| Bagpipe | 38,000g |
| Concertina | 57,000g |
| Mbira | 57,000g |
| Lyre | 57,000g |
| Violin | 57,000g |
| Conga | 72,000g |
| Cajon | 72,000g |
| 8-Note Xylophone with Stand | 72,000g |
| Cello | 94,500g |
| Piano (Red) | 195,000g |
Two points need care. First, the list names a plain Lute at 38,000g, while the quest reward is called a Scholar’s Lute. The guides do not say whether these are the same item, so check the name in Annie’s shop before buying. Second, the Piano is listed at 195,000g, but the Day 3 sign-in route gives a Piano at no cost. Claim the free Piano first, then decide whether a second instrument is worth the gold.

Playing your own music
Heartopia.Life and Heartopia.vip both describe the same notation, which you will need for manual play. The numbers 1 through 7 correspond to the notes C, D, E, F, G, A and B. A dot above a number raises it to a higher octave, and a dot below lowers it to a lower octave.

Manual play with numbered notes
Play at an instrument and tap the notes yourself to perform a song you have written out in numbers. This works without any unlocked score, so you can start with the Piano or Lute as soon as you own one.
Auto-play from owned scores
- Complete the Vernie quest so the Instrument & Music Score feature is unlocked.
- Open the Daily Life Guide smartwatch app and go to the score system.
- Select a score you own.
- Take it to a piano and start auto-play.
The guides say scores are sold at Annie’s Music Store once the feature is unlocked. Heartopia.Life gives “Für Elise” and “Canon in D” as examples, but it also notes that availability and unlock requirements may vary, so treat those titles as examples rather than a confirmed stock list.

Recording and publishing a CD: a separate system
Recording is not the same as playing. AllThings. How says the Music Production system becomes available at character level 17 and turns a performance into a physical CD that can be shared or sold. Its sequence is as follows.
- Buy a phonograph from Ka Ching’s General Store.
- Place the phonograph in your home.
- Interact with it to begin a recording.
- Perform through the take.
- Use a Music CD Publishing Permit to burn the recording to a CD.
- Share or sell the finished CD.
This workflow is described by a single third-party guide. Check each step against the current game interface, particularly the phonograph’s placement rules and where the Publishing Permit comes from, since the guide does not describe either in detail.

Can other players hear you?
Heartopia.Life says friends can hear your performance in real time when they are visiting your home or are nearby. Heartopia.vip describes the same behaviour. Recording to a CD is a separate step from live performance, and the recording route is level-gated.
What you do not need
None of the sources says a physical instrument, controller or accessory is needed to get or play Heartopia’s in-game instruments. The sources also do not establish that a MIDI controller works with the game, so there is no supported reason to buy hardware for this purpose.
Quick checklist before you start
- Claim the Day 3 sign-in Piano if you are still within the reward window.
- Complete “Astralis in Flower Field” with Vernie to get the Scholar’s Lute and unlock the score system.
- Check Annie’s Music Store for the instrument list and prices, since the guides’ figures are from early 2026.
- Reach character level 17 before expecting the phonograph and CD workflow.
- Practise manual numbered-note play before buying scores for auto-play.
