Assassin’s Creed Unity is the clearest officially documented choice for multiplayer today: Ubisoft still provides instructions for co-op missions, friend invites, and matchmaking. That confirms the feature is documented, not that public matchmaking is busy or guaranteed to find players. Brotherhood’s official multiplayer is no longer available, Revelations’ legacy online services were decommissioned, and 2026’s Black Flag Resynced has no multiplayer. Ubisoft’s March 2026 update describes Invictus as in development, not released.
Which Assassin’s Creed multiplayer is still active?
For an officially supported co-op option, start with Assassin’s Creed Unity. Ubisoft’s current support guide explains how to create a co-op session, invite a friend, or choose “Play Co-Op Now” to matchmake. Ubisoft’s game page describes co-op with up to three friends.
These official pages document the mode and how to use it; they do not publish a live player count or guarantee that matchmaking will find other players. If you want to play with someone specific, arranging a friend session is a more dependable plan than assuming random matchmaking will be populated.
Assassin’s Creed multiplayer status by game
| Game or project | Official status in the cited sources | What that means for players |
|---|---|---|
| Assassin’s Creed Unity | Ubisoft documents co-op sessions, friend invites, and matchmaking; its game page describes co-op with up to three friends. | The clearest documented official co-op option. Population and matchmaking success are not established. |
| Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood | Ubisoft’s current product page says multiplayer and online features are no longer available. | Do not expect the official multiplayer to work. |
| Assassin’s Creed Revelations | Included in Ubisoft’s older online-service decommissioning information. | Its legacy online services were decommissioned; it is not a recommended official active option. |
| Original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag | The cited sources do not establish current multiplayer server availability or population. | Its present status cannot be inferred from the separate Resynced remake. |
| Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced | Ubisoft’s FAQ says the remake does not include multiplayer. | It is single-player and does not restore the original game’s multiplayer. |
| Codename Invictus | Ubisoft’s March 2026 update describes a PvP multiplayer project in development. | It is not currently available to play. |

What the 2026 releases and plans mean
Black Flag Resynced is a separate release
Do not treat Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced as a multiplayer revival of the original. Ubisoft’s Resynced FAQ answers the multiplayer question directly: “No. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced does not include a multiplayer mode.” This answers the remake’s status, not the current server status of the original Black Flag.

A game’s former multiplayer mode, its present official service status, and the number of people currently playing are different questions. Ubisoft explicitly says Brotherhood’s online features are no longer available and lists Revelations in older service decommissioning information. For Unity, Ubisoft documents a functioning co-op path, but provides no population figure. For the original Black Flag, the sources cited here do not settle current server availability. Those distinctions matter: a documented mode is not proof of a busy matchmaking pool, and a remake’s features do not establish the original’s service status.
