Most often, the raid has not reached an evoker wave. Evokers do not appear in the opening waves, and the wave pattern depends on difficulty and edition. Check how many waves your raid can reach before treating a missing evoker as a spawn bug.
Why a raid may not include an evoker
Evokers are associated with later raid waves, not the opening ones. Mojang’s Java Edition Snapshot 19W13B says evokers spawn in waves 5–7; it also documents three, five, or seven base raid groups on Easy, Normal, and Hard, respectively. That means the Java pattern described in those notes does not reach an evoker wave on Easy. Mojang’s Snapshot 19W13B notes are an official historical source from March 29, 2019, not a guarantee of current behavior across every edition or server.
Check the edition and wave progression
Java Edition
Use the difficulty and wave pattern documented for Java rather than counting elapsed time. Under the pattern in Mojang’s 2019 notes, Easy has three base groups, Normal has five, and Hard has seven; the notes place evokers in waves 5–7. A short raid on Easy is therefore not evidence of a failed evoker spawn.
Bedrock Edition
Do not assume Java’s wave composition applies to Bedrock. The Minecraft Wiki raid summary lists Bedrock compositions separately and places evokers in later waves. Because that is a community-maintained source rather than an official Mojang specification, check the table for your edition and version instead of treating its counts as a universal current rule.

What to check if a late wave passes without an evoker
- Confirm whether you are playing Java or Bedrock, and note the exact game version.
- Check the difficulty and count the raid waves reached; compare the result with the composition for that edition.
- If an evoker-containing late wave was reached but none appeared, record whether you were in single-player or on a server, the server software, and any active add-ons or datapacks.
Those details help distinguish expected wave progression from an unusual spawn issue. The available sources do not establish one current general bug that explains every missing evoker, so a diagnosis needs the specific edition, version, and environment.
Where else to find an evoker
If you want to encounter an evoker or obtain its drop without waiting for a raid wave, woodland mansions are another location. Mojang describes evokers on mansion upper floors and notes their vex-summoning spell and totem drop in its evoker feature.
