PriceCharting lists a vintage Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer at $173.50 loose, $300 complete in box, and $450 new; its Light Sixer guide values are $48.22, $130.79, and $196, respectively. These are guide figures based on sold listings—not guaranteed prices for an individual console.
Atari 2600 values by model and condition
PriceCharting separates the early Heavy Sixer from the Light Sixer and gives each a different value for loose, complete-in-box (CIB), and new condition. Its guide, accessed October 8, 2026, says its prices are updated using sold Atari listings on eBay and other marketplaces.
| Console | Loose | Complete in box | New |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer | $173.50 | $300.00 | $450.00 |
| Atari 2600 Light Sixer | $48.22 | $130.79 | $196.00 |

How to estimate what your console may sell for
- Identify the model. Check whether the console is a Heavy Sixer or Light Sixer before using a guide value. Their listed values differ substantially, so do not use one model’s figure for the other.
- Choose the closest completeness category. A loose console, a complete-in-box set, and a new example are separate categories in PriceCharting’s guide. Record whether the original packaging and manuals are present rather than assuming a box alone makes a set complete.
- Describe the actual item. Note whether it works, its physical condition, and which controllers and power supply are included. The guide establishes model and completeness categories, but it does not provide a formula for adjusting value based on wear, operation, accessories, location, or selling fees.
- Compare recent completed sales. Look for sold examples matching the same model and condition. An active asking price shows what a seller hopes to receive, not what a buyer paid. Use sold listings as comparables, while recognizing that individual sale results can differ.
What can change an individual sale price?
The guide’s categories are useful starting points, not a full grading system. Two consoles in the same model and completeness category may differ in working status, cosmetic condition, or included accessories. Compare those details directly when reviewing sold examples, and do not apply an unsupported fixed premium or discount for them.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Atari 2600+ the same as a vintage 2600?
No. Atari’s current 2600+ is a separate product, not a vintage-console valuation. Atari’s official store lists it at $129.99 and describes compatibility with Atari 2600 and 7800 games, HDMI connectivity, and widescreen mode for modern televisions. The listed price and availability can change. See Atari’s official 2600+ listing.

- 4-Switch Wood Grain Model
The 2600+ may be relevant if the goal is to play compatible games on a modern TV, but its current retail price should not be used as the resale value of an original Atari 2600.
