The area most often pointed to is the grassland west of Windsward and south of Everfall, which one location guide describes as a dense gathering spot. Primrose in Windsward and Balmy Veldt in Cutlass Keys are named as alternatives. You need a sickle to harvest it, and the same guide says hemp can be tracked once you reach Harvesting level 25.
What hemp looks like and where it grows
Hemp is a harvestable plant tied to Forest and Grassland terrain. The PC Gamer location guide “New World hemp locations: Where to harvest fiber” describes it as a tall stalk with bright pink or purple flowers. Flower color can shift between zones, so match the biome on your map to the plant you see rather than relying on color alone.
Named routes to search
Three routes are reported in third-party guides. None is an official node map, and the guides do not give current coordinates or per-hour yields.

Harvesting hemp
Use a sickle. The PC Gamer guide reports no Harvesting-level requirement to gather hemp, but says the plant only becomes trackable at Harvesting level 25. Those are the guide’s figures, not a re-test on a current build, so if a node won’t show on your tracker, check your Harvesting level before assuming the location is wrong.

Search route, step by step
- Open the world map and switch on the Resource Locations tab. Amazon Games’ April 2022 update notes document this tab, so use it to confirm you are in a Forest or Grassland area.
- Search the grasslands west of Windsward and south of Everfall first.
- If that area is crowded or produces few nodes, move to the Primrose area in Windsward or the Balmy Veldt loop in Cutlass Keys.
- Equip a sickle, harvest each hemp plant you find, and track the plant once your Harvesting level reaches 25.
What hemp gives you
The location guide says hemp yields Fiber. Amazon Games’ “Character Progression” page describes Harvesting, fibers, and gathering progression as part of the game’s crafting economy, which fits that account. Amazon’s Season 2 release notes also describe Strange Pollen as coming from hemp plants, so expect that item as a possible harvest drop alongside Fiber. Neither source gives drop rates.
What is and is not verified
- The official material confirms the Resource Locations map tab and the harvesting systems. It does not confirm current hemp node placement.
- The route descriptions, the Harvesting level 25 tracking threshold, and the “dense” label come from older third-party guides. They have not been checked against a current official map.
- No yield, node count, or ranking of routes by output is established. Choose a route by biome and proximity to a settlement or landmark you can reach, not by a claimed yield.
How long New World stays playable
Amazon Games announced on January 15, 2026 that New World: Aeternum was delisted from sale, and that previously purchased copies stay playable until the servers shut down. As of October 2026, the game is still running. Key dates from that announcement:

- January 31, 2027: servers shut down. The announcement states: “New World: Aeternum will officially be taken offline from all platforms on January 31, 2027.”
- No new content and no further server merges are planned for the rest of the game’s life.
Because the game has a fixed end date and no further updates, the location routes above are best checked against the live map in your own session.
