Is ARC Raiders back? On October 8, 2026, the game reached a reported 131,388-player peak on Steam over a 24-hour period, its highest since the April Riven Tides update, according to Insider Gaming. It is a notable rebound, but the figure is Steam-only—and Frozen Trail launched alongside a free-play event and a 50% discount, so the peak cannot be credited to the update alone.
How many people were playing ARC Raiders on Steam?
Insider Gaming and GamesRadar+ both reported a 24-hour Steam concurrent-player peak of 131,388 on October 8, 2026. Insider Gaming described it as the game’s highest peak since Riven Tides arrived in April; GamesRadar said Steam concurrency had not exceeded 100,000 since May.
Those figures measure concurrent players on Steam, not copies sold, unique players, or everyone playing across platforms. ARC Raiders is multiplatform, and GamesRadar cautions that Steam numbers can indicate a trend but do not establish the game’s total audience.
What do the October 8 player-count readings mean?
Steam concurrency changes continuously, so a peak and a current-player reading answer different questions. Digital Citizen reported that Valve’s Most Played chart showed 127,297 current players and a same-day peak of 131,388 at 20:55 UTC on October 8. The outlet also reported a Valve API reading of 126,911 twelve minutes before that chart capture. These are historical snapshots, not current counts.

The two current-player readings are close but were taken at different times and by different methods. They should not be substituted for the 24-hour peak or treated as an all-platform count. Digital Citizen’s report provides the timestamp and source context for those readings.
Did Frozen Trail bring players back?
The peak coincided with Frozen Trail going live on October 8, but also with two promotions: free play from October 8 through 12 and a 50% discount on all platforms, as Embark announced in its launch post. The free-play offer had a €0.25 fee for PS5 in Germany. GamesRadar notes that sales and giveaways can attract players; the available figures do not separate their effect from the update’s effect.
Frozen Trail added substantial content, including Pendola Pass, three new ARC threats—Bully, Skulker, and Hydra—an Outpost weapon upgrade to a fifth tier, new skills, Tethers, a Grapple Hook, and two weapons, according to Embark. The launch therefore offered returning and new players more than a routine balance change, but the concurrent-player peak alone cannot show which additions or promotions brought people in.

Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal told GamesRadar that Embark expected player numbers to fall for a period after it changed its update cadence, while hoping larger releases such as Frozen Trail would reengage players. GamesRadar reported that the studio’s plan was to release Frozen Trail-sized batches roughly every six months. That cadence gives context to the timing of this spike, but it does not establish whether the increase will last between updates.

For now, “back” is best understood as a sharp Steam peak rather than proof of a sustained recovery. The October 8 figure is a strong moment for ARC Raiders on Steam; the cited reports do not establish the longer-term trend across platforms.
