Claim deadlines run from October 12, 2026 to January 8, 2027, and several offers are marked “as soon as possible.” Each offer has its own store, deadline and Prime requirement, so the list works as a set of individual claims rather than one bundle. Several games carry Steam Deck labels, but those labels describe the Steam release, not necessarily the copy you claim from another store.
What the October 8 roundup lists
The table below reproduces the offers as Steam Deck HQ reported them on October 8, 2026. “Not stated” means the roundup did not give that detail for the game. It does not mean the game lacks the detail elsewhere.

The roundup places the Amazon-linked titles under its Epic Games heading. Which store actually hosts a given copy depends on the individual offer, so confirm the claim page before you start.
The roundup also lists DLC for Gear.Club Unlimited 3, MXGP 26, Rotwood and World of Warships. It does not give deadlines or Steam Deck labels for these in the summary, so check each DLC offer directly.

Three different kinds of “free”
Most confusion about this list comes from treating every offer as the same kind of free. There are three distinct routes, and each one behaves differently once the game is in your library.
Steam giveaways
The five Steam entries are giveaways that deliver a Steam key. Spooky Cats is listed as a Fanatical giveaway. Because the key redeems to Steam itself, this is the route where the Steam Deck label applies most directly, since the label is assigned to the Steam release. Pony Island is the only one in this group with a fixed date, October 12, 2026.
Prime Gaming
Amazon describes Prime Gaming as included with Amazon Prime and Prime Video, giving access to selected games at no additional cost. Amazon’s UK help page adds that offers may vary by country, and the country-specific list you see is the one that applies to you. The roundup marks the Amazon-linked Epic titles, the GOG titles and Havendock as requiring an active Prime account. Prime Gaming titles are not Steam keys. You claim them through Amazon and then redeem them on the store or app Amazon directs you to.

Store giveaways without Prime
Out of Sight and TerraScape are listed under the Epic Games Store without a Prime requirement. Claiming a game from Epic gives you a copy on Epic. It does not add a Steam copy to your Steam library, and the same is true for GOG and Amazon claims.

Where each copy redeems
Amazon’s claim guide says many Prime games are offered through GOG, the Epic Games Store, Legacy Games or the Amazon Games app. Some claimed PC games require you to install the Amazon Games app before you can play them. Treat the redemption route as a separate step from the offer itself.
- Steam key: redeems to your Steam library.
- Epic, GOG or Legacy Games copy: lives in that store’s own library and launcher.
- Amazon Games app: may be required for some PC claims. Check the offer for this before you commit to a claim.
How much to trust a Steam Deck label
Valve assigns Deck labels of Verified, Playable and Unsupported, and games without a rating show as Unknown. Valve says its compatibility review is ongoing and that ratings may change, so a label that was accurate on October 8 may not be accurate later.

A separate report from Digital Citizen, published September 23, 2026, makes a key distinction. A Steam Deck rating applies to the Steam release of a game. For a copy redeemed through another store, the rating is only a proxy. It does not certify that the other store’s build behaves the same way. A Verified label on a GOG or Epic copy therefore tells you what Valve found for the Steam version, not a guarantee for the copy you claimed.

Valve says SteamOS is Linux-based and includes Proton, a compatibility layer that can run many Windows games without the developer porting them. Valve’s FAQ says non-Steam games can run through Proton, and that installed games can be played offline unless a particular game requires an internet connection. These statements establish that non-Steam games can run on Deck with setup. They do not establish that every game, launcher or redeemed build works identically. This article does not report hands-on tests of these offers.

- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
- Confirm the claim deadline on the offer page. The roundup’s dates are a snapshot, and the Steam Deck HQ list changes weekly.
- Confirm whether the offer needs an active Amazon Prime membership. Prime Gaming is included with Prime and Prime Video, but availability may vary by country.
- Note which store or app hosts the copy, and whether the Amazon Games app or another launcher is required.
- Read the Steam Deck label as a rating for the Steam release, not a promise for your copy.
- Check that the device has enough free storage for the install before you redeem, since a failed redemption is easier to fix before the deadline passes.
- After installing, launch the game once in Game Mode and once in Desktop Mode to see whether it behaves the way the label suggests.
If a game will not launch, first check whether it needs the launcher the store specified. Then check whether a compatibility option is available for that title. If the problem persists, the label may simply not match the build you hold, and the store’s support page is the right next step.
Storage: microSD is optional
Valve’s FAQ says the Steam Deck supports microSD cards and formats them for its use. A card is optional and is only useful if your installs outgrow the internal storage. This article does not recommend a specific card or capacity.
Older roundups are not current offers
An earlier roundup from September 10, 2026 listed different games and different deadlines. If you saved a previous list, check each offer again rather than assuming it still applies.
