What to know before hunting them

Game8 describes Vicious Monsters, also called Menacing Monsters in its overview, as stronger versions of regular enemies. It says each is a one-time fight that cannot be repeated after victory and that defeating one awards its corresponding Monster Heart. These encounter details come from Game8; Nintendo’s product description does not specifically confirm them.

Nintendo says field monsters are visible and that striking a weaker field monster first can defeat it instantly. Its description does not say whether that preemptive-strike mechanic applies to Vicious Monsters, so do not assume it will bypass a Vicious encounter. See Nintendo’s Dragon Quest VII Reimagined product page.
