The First Descendant Characters: What’s Verified About Their Abilities and Exclusive Equipment

Official sources describe Ultimate Sharen’s passive and give launch-era snapshots of Bunny, Valby and Ajax, but do not establish a complete current roster or exclusive-equipment catalogue.

There is not enough verified information here to list every currently playable Descendant or give a complete ability and exclusive-equipment entry for each one. The available sources support details for Ultimate Sharen and launch-era descriptions of Bunny, Valby and Ajax. They also establish an important distinction: Descendant abilities are not the same thing as Unique Abilities on some Ultimate weapons.

How many Descendants are playable?

A June 26, 2024 PlayStation Blog interview with Nexon Games producer Beomjun Lee said that The First Descendant would launch with 19 Descendants: 14 original Descendants and five Ultimate Descendants. That is a launch-era figure, not a count of the current playable roster.

The available character records do not establish a complete, up-to-date roster. The four characters described below are examples supported by the cited material, not an exhaustive list. No current total or complete character-by-character ability catalogue can be confirmed from these sources.

What abilities are described for these characters?

The descriptions below are limited to what Nexon and PlayStation stated in the sources cited. They are not full skill lists, build recommendations or confirmation of current in-game wording.

Ultimate Sharen

Nexon’s official character library labels Sharen as an electric Descendant empowered by the Ultimate Project. The accessible Ultimate Sharen record names her passive skill “Assassinator.” As displayed there, a skill kill while she is in Ambush resets Active Camouflage, subject to a cooldown; it also describes increased damage against enemies that are not targeting her. Nexon’s library cautions that translations can differ from in-game terminology, so check the current game for exact wording.

Bunny

In the 2024 PlayStation Blog interview, producer Beomjun Lee described Bunny’s electrical suit, speed and energy discharge. This gives a broad picture of her movement and electrical combat style, but the interview does not supply a complete list of her skills or their current effects.

Valby

Lee described Valby transforming into water and creating puddles. He also said her MP use is reduced while she is on water. These are launch-era developer descriptions, not a current skill table. In the same interview, Lee said, “Valby is my personal favorite character.”

Ajax

Lee described Ajax as using space distortion and protective shields. The interview does not specify every ability, its exact effect or whether details have changed since launch.

What does “exclusive equipment” mean?

The official character library groups character information under Descendants and provides a section for “Exclusive Equipment / Ability.” The accessible Ultimate Sharen record supplies the passive-skill information above, but it does not establish a complete list of character-exclusive equipment for Sharen or other Descendants.

Keep this category separate from the game’s general equipment systems. Nexon’s equipment guide distinguishes weapons, external components, Reactors, consumables and modules. It notes that some Ultimate-tier weapons have Unique Abilities; that does not mean those weapons or abilities are exclusive to a particular Descendant.

Nexon’s guide is dated September 5, 2023, and says it was based on the Crossplay Open Beta, with possible changes by launch. It is useful for understanding the distinction between equipment types, not as a current patch guide.

What can and can’t be concluded

  • Supported: the launch plan described in 2024, broad developer descriptions of Bunny, Valby and Ajax, and the displayed Ultimate Sharen passive in Nexon’s character library.
  • Not established: the current roster size, a complete current ability list for every Descendant, character-by-character unlock methods, or a complete catalogue of character-exclusive equipment.
  • For a current comparison: verify each Descendant’s record and terminology in the game or current official character information, and check the relevant update date before relying on skill details.
