inZOI is available on Windows PC through Steam. It remains an Early Access game, and the official US Steam listing currently shows a price of $39.99. The free inZOI download you may see in the Epic Games Store is the separate ModKit for creating mods—not the full game. The PC requirements are demanding, particularly the dedicated GPU, VRAM and SSD requirements, and an internet connection is required to launch the game.
This guide covers the legitimate download route, current requirements and version status, first-launch setup, performance settings, controls, cheats, Canvas, modding and the most useful fixes for installation and launch problems. Information about the current build is accurate to August 10, 2026; because inZOI is still being updated, confirm your in-game version before following version-specific advice.

How to download inZOI on Windows
The full Windows game is installed through Steam. There is no official standalone direct-download executable that bypasses Steam.
- Download and install the official Steam client.
- Sign in to Steam or create a Steam account.
- Open the official inZOI Steam store page.
- Select Add to Cart, complete the purchase and return to the Steam client.
- Open Library, select inZOI and choose Install.
- Choose an SSD-based Steam library with enough spare capacity for the game and future patches. The listed requirement is 40 GB for minimum and 60 GB for recommended systems; leaving additional room is sensible for updates, shader data, saves and mods.
- Allow Steam to download and install the game, then launch it while connected to the internet.
- If Steam offers an update, apply it before diagnosing a crash or missing feature.
Do not download an alleged full inZOI installer from an unofficial mirror, torrent or “free PC download” site. Those files may be illegal or modified and can introduce malware, broken dependencies, account risks and version incompatibilities. The safe route for the game is the official Steam listing.

Do not confuse inZOI with the Epic Games ModKit
The official inZOI ModKit installation documentation directs creators to the Epic Games Store. That download is a development tool for making mods; it does not contain the playable inZOI life simulator and does not replace the Steam purchase.
How much does inZOI cost?
At the August 10, 2026 research cutoff, the US Steam listing displays $39.99. Your final price can differ because Steam pricing varies by country, currency, tax, regional pricing, sales and publisher decisions.
KRAFTON originally announced a $39.99 Early Access price and said updates and DLC would be free until full release in its Early Access launch announcement. That announcement should not be treated as a guarantee that the eventual full-release price or future commercial terms will remain unchanged. The Steam page still labels inZOI as Early Access.
Early Access status and the latest Windows build
inZOI entered Steam Early Access on March 27, 2025. Steam’s Early Access notice warns that the game is incomplete, may change substantially and may contain bugs or instability. That matters when evaluating saves, controls, mods and features: a guide written at launch can contain obsolete labels or commands even if the game itself is still called inZOI.

To check your installed version, open the game and go to Esc → Game Options → Game Information. You can also check the version shown at the bottom of the Game Menu. Record that number when reporting a bug or checking whether a control or mod guide still applies. Official announcements are collected in the Steam inZOI news archive.
Updates can automatically disable installed mods. After a patch, reactivate mods only after checking that they are compatible with the new build.

These are the developer’s published minimum and recommended specifications, not a guaranteed frame-rate target. Meeting minimum does not mean that the game will deliver smooth high-resolution play or a high graphics preset. The recommended specification is also substantially stronger than the minimum, especially in GPU and VRAM capacity.

What matters most before you install
- Dedicated GPU: The minimum specification calls for a 6 GB VRAM RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT-class card. Integrated graphics and many entry-level laptop GPUs should be treated as unsuitable unless you independently verify their capability.
- VRAM: High resolution, ray tracing, shadows, background detail and shader compilation can all increase graphics-memory pressure. A GPU can meet the model name requirement and still struggle if it has too little VRAM.
- RAM: 12 GB is the floor, not the comfortable target. Sixteen gigabytes is the official recommendation, and background applications can reduce the memory available to the game.
- SSD: SSD installation is part of the official specification. The developer’s optimization guidance says it improves texture streaming and map loading compared with a hard disk drive.
- Free space: Treat 40 GB or 60 GB as the listed capacity requirement, not as a safe long-term allocation. Keep extra space available for patches, shader data, saves and mods.
- Internet: An internet connection is required to launch inZOI and to use additional online content and features. Do not plan around guaranteed offline play.
How to check your Windows PC
Use Windows’ built-in diagnostic tool before buying:
- Press Windows + R.
- Type
dxdiagand press Enter. - On the System tab, check Windows, processor and installed memory.
- On the Display tab, check the dedicated graphics card and its display memory.
- Confirm that the target Steam library is on an SSD and that Windows and your graphics driver are current.
You can also open Windows Settings and search for About to view basic operating-system and hardware information. Compare the exact CPU and GPU models rather than relying on clock speed or a generic label such as “gaming laptop.” The official support article has additional PC specification-checking steps.

First-launch setup that avoids common problems
- Connect to the internet. inZOI requires connectivity to launch, and Steam may need to authenticate or update the installation.
- Apply the current patch. Do not troubleshoot an old build if Steam has a pending update.
- Let shader compilation finish. The first run can be more demanding while shaders are being compiled. Avoid treating the initial process as a representative performance test.
- Start conservatively. Choose a Low or Very Low graphics preset if your hardware is close to minimum, then raise individual options gradually.
- Temporarily remove variables. For the first launch, disable mods, Discord or GPU overlays, overclocking utilities and other memory-heavy background tools if you encounter a crash.
- Check security software. If the game cannot save or launch, allow Steam and inZOI through Windows security software rather than immediately assuming the installation is corrupt.
- Record the version. Use Esc → Game Options → Game Information so that any later troubleshooting is tied to the installed build.
What can you do in inZOI?
inZOI is more than a basic character creator or a simple “Sims alternative.” Its current Early Access identity combines life simulation with character design, construction, city editing, photography, online sharing, AI-assisted creation and official mod tools. The balance and depth of those systems continue to change.
Life simulation and autonomous Zois
Zois have personalities, life experiences, relationships and autonomous behavior. The simulation can produce developments such as rumors, trends and disease, while players can influence cities, weather, properties and streets. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 for its visual presentation, but the demanding visuals are also why the official hardware requirements are unusually high for a life simulator.

Players who want to experiment with emergent stories may enjoy the current build; players expecting a fully mature, deeply interconnected life simulation should treat future depth as work in progress rather than a guaranteed present feature.
Create a Zoi
The official Steam description advertises more than 250 customization options, covering areas such as hair, skin, physique, clothing, accessories and nail art. In the Create a Zoi menu, players can also create custom clothing by adjusting textures and colors. The exact tools and interface may change with updates.
For construction and furnishing, rooms, walls, floors and individual objects can be customized. The official support documentation says that PNG and JPG textures can be imported through the texture tools. AI texture prompts must be entered in English according to the current support article.
Building, properties and city editing
Builders can combine walls, roofs, stairs, fences, platforms and gates, then customize rooms and objects. The broader city tools let players shape elements such as streets, properties and weather. This makes inZOI useful both as a life simulator and as a creative sandbox for people who spend more time designing environments than following a household’s daily routine.

Studio is the photography space for arranging Zois with different expressions, poses, backgrounds and lighting. Finished creations can be shared through Canvas. It is particularly useful for character portraits, storytelling scenes and showcasing custom builds. See the official explanation of Studio for the current interface.
Canvas sharing
Canvas is the in-game sharing platform. Players can upload, discover, like, download and comment on creations including characters, homes, furniture, 3D models and backgrounds. Canvas and related online services require an internet connection. Some account-linked features and code redemption may require a KRAFTON ID; redemption codes are separate from Creator Codes. The official Canvas guide and code-redemption instructions explain those services.
AI-assisted creation: what is still available
The current Steam listing describes on-device generative-AI features, with an AI-generated-content disclosure. The listed tools include:
- Text-generated patterns and images for clothing, props and furniture.
- Conversion of a 2D image into a 3D object.
- Video-based character-motion creation.
- Text-influenced Zoi actions and thoughts through the described SLM technology.
Do not rely on older guides that describe AI Building as a current feature. The development team announced in July 2026 that it was discontinuing AI Building. That does not remove the other AI-assisted texture, object, motion and behavior tools listed above, but it does mean that “AI Building” should not be advertised as available in the current game.

Best graphics settings for different PCs
There is no honest universal FPS promise because results vary with the CPU, GPU, VRAM, resolution, background applications and the current build. The profiles below follow the developer’s official optimization guidance; treat them as starting points rather than benchmark results.
Performance-first profile
- Start with the Very Low or Low preset.
- Lower the display resolution or resolution scale if the GPU is saturated.
- Set DLSS, FSR or XeSS to Performance or Ultra Performance, where supported.
- Enable Dynamic Resolution if stable frame pacing matters more than consistently sharp image quality.
- Reduce shader quality, background detail and shadow quality.
- Disable ray tracing.
- Install the game on an SSD.
- Use Performance Safeguard where it helps your system maintain stability, and review the available Simulation Preset and Graphics Preset options.
- If resource shortages continue, close background applications and consider whether additional system memory or virtual-memory capacity is needed.
Upscaling and dynamic resolution can substantially improve performance, but they trade away some image sharpness. Ultra Performance is most useful when maintaining playability is more important than fine detail.
Quality-first profile
- Raise resolution scale toward the monitor’s native resolution.
- Use DLSS, FSR or XeSS on Quality, or disable upscaling if your hardware can sustain native resolution.
- Use High or Ultra presets where frame pacing and VRAM usage remain stable.
- Increase shader, background-detail and shadow quality gradually rather than changing everything at once.
- Enable ray tracing only if the GPU has enough performance and VRAM headroom.
The official guide says Fallback Mesh can improve ray-tracing performance, but it may cause crashes on some high-end systems. If enabling it creates instability, turn it back off instead of treating the crash as a damaged save.
Settings added or refined in later updates
Later updates added or refined Simulation Preset, Performance Safeguard, Graphics Preset, customizable hotkeys and mouse-sensitivity controls. The game can also warn when enabling Smart Zoi on systems with 7 GB or less VRAM. If you see that warning, test cautiously and monitor stability rather than assuming the feature will perform like it does on the recommended hardware. The relevant official update notes are the current controls and settings update and the performance-related update.
Useful controls and shortcuts
Keybindings are still subject to change. Open the in-game Shortcut Guide from the Esc menu before relying on any static list, particularly after an update. The following shortcuts and commands have been reported in official control updates:

The two camera entries are commands rather than ordinary single-key toggles. If a command does not work, check the current Shortcut Guide and game version first; controls from an older patch may no longer match your installation. Official control notes are available in the shortcut update and later controls update.
How to enable and use cheats
On Windows, first open Psycat’s Advice in-game and choose Enable Cheats. Then open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C. If that shortcut fails, press and hold Ctrl and Shift first, then press C.

Mods, the ModKit and Canvas: how they fit together
inZOI has official mod support, in-game mod browsing and CurseForge integration. The separate ModKit, distributed through the Epic Games Store installation route, is for creating mods. Canvas is for sharing and discovering game creations. Neither one is the full Steam game.

For safer installation and troubleshooting:
- Prefer the in-game browser or a recognized supported distribution route rather than random executable downloads.
- Back up important saves before adding a large or experimental mod collection.
- Expect patches to disable mods automatically.
- After an update, check for mod updates or remove incompatible mods before assuming the base game is broken.
- When diagnosing a crash, temporarily disable every mod and overlay, then test an unmodified game.
- Keep in mind that the official modification policy does not guarantee the security, functionality or compatibility of unofficial modification tools.
Mods increase creative possibilities, but they also create another compatibility layer. A mod that worked on one build can fail after an engine, asset or interface update. Read the official modification policy and the ModKit and CurseForge announcement before building a heavily modded installation.

Start with the least destructive steps: update the game, verify files, remove mods and overlays, and only then consider reinstalling. Use the symptom that matches your problem below.

Steam installation errors and corrupt files
- Check that the destination drive has enough free space.
- Open Steam Library.
- Right-click inZOI and choose Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Select Verify integrity of game files.
- Check permissions for the Steam library folder and update the Steam client.
- If required, close and reopen Steam with administrator privileges.
- Clear the download cache through Steam → Settings → Download → Clear Download Cache.
Verification is normally preferable to deleting the installation. For additional cases, see the official installation-error guide.
Error code 51
For Game Launch Failed error code 51, verify the game files and restart inZOI. If that does not work, the official guidance is to reinstall the game or try installing it on another drive. A different drive can help distinguish a damaged library, permission problem or storage issue from a game-file problem.
Preparing to Launch and general launch failures
Update Windows, the graphics driver and relevant system drivers, then verify the installation. Disable Discord, GeForce Experience, GPU overlays and other memory-heavy tools while testing. Also confirm that the PC meets the official requirements rather than assuming that a game launching once means the hardware is sufficient. The Preparing to Launch support article covers this branch.
