For the U.S. English-language physical game, seven named expansion labels launched across six release dates: Prismatic Evolutions, Journey Together, Destined Rivals, Black Bolt, White Flare, Mega Evolution, and Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames. Black Bolt and White Flare were separate English expansions released simultaneously on July 18, which is why some lists count six releases and others count seven sets.
This is a retrospective calendar of major U.S. and English-language physical Pokémon TCG products released or scheduled for retail release during calendar year 2025. Prereleases, Standard legality, and Pokémon TCG Live dates are listed separately because they do not always match a product’s physical street date.
Last updated: August 10, 2026. Verified historical dates are presented as final dates; announced, delayed, staggered, and region-dependent dates are labeled.
Quick answer: every major 2025 Pokémon TCG expansion
The table below uses U.S. English physical release dates. It does not use Pokémon TCG Live availability dates or store-specific prerelease dates.
| Physical release date | Expansion | Series or type | Main theme | Official information |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 17, 2025 | Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions | Scarlet & Violet special expansion | Eevee and its Evolutions | Pokémon’s preview lists more than 175 cards. |
| March 28, 2025 | Scarlet & Violet—Journey Together | Scarlet & Violet main expansion | Trainer’s Pokémon, including N’s, Iono’s, Lillie’s, and Hop’s Pokémon | Pokémon’s release schedule |
| May 30, 2025 | Scarlet & Violet—Destined Rivals | Scarlet & Violet main expansion | Team Rocket’s Pokémon and Trainers | Pokémon’s preview lists more than 240 cards. |
| July 18, 2025 | Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt | Scarlet & Violet split special expansion | Unova Pokédex | PokéBeach’s announcement coverage explains the first simultaneous English dual-set launch. |
| July 18, 2025 | Scarlet & Violet—White Flare | Scarlet & Violet split special expansion | Unova Pokédex | |
| September 26, 2025 | Mega Evolution | First Mega Evolution Series expansion | Return of Mega Evolution Pokémon to the modern physical TCG | Pokémon’s launch coverage lists more than 180 cards. |
| November 14, 2025 | Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames | Mega Evolution main expansion | Mega Charizard X, Mega Gengar, and other Mega Evolution Pokémon | Pokémon’s strategy coverage lists more than 120 cards. |
Counting note: There were seven named English expansions, but Black Bolt and White Flare shared one launch date. Counting launch groups therefore produces six physical expansion release dates. They should not be described as one ordinary combined set: each had its own name, products, card pool, Elite Trainer Box, booster bundle, and binder collection.

What each 2025 set was about
Prismatic Evolutions — January 17
Prismatic Evolutions was the year’s collector-focused opening release and centered on Eevee and all eight of its Evolutions. The expansion also featured Stellar Tera Pokémon ex and was officially described as containing more than 175 cards.
Unlike a conventional main expansion, its initial product strategy emphasized sealed collections rather than a standard booster-display launch. The principal products included Elite Trainer Boxes, Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes, booster bundles, binders, poster collections, mini tins, Tech Sticker Collections, Surprise Boxes, and other boxed products. That product structure made the January release important to collectors even though it did not follow the usual booster-box pattern.
Journey Together — March 28
Journey Together introduced the Trainer’s Pokémon theme to the English Scarlet & Violet series. Its notable characters included N, Iono, Lillie, and Hop, with cards such as N’s Zoroark ex, Iono’s Bellibolt ex, and Lillie’s Clefairy ex among the headline cards.
Recommended Free Tools
The English expansion was not a direct one-to-one translation of a single Japanese set. English set composition drew material from multiple Japanese products and Trainer-focused releases, so Japanese product names and dates should not be copied into an English release calendar. PokéBeach’s Journey Together guide provides useful context for that difference.
Destined Rivals — May 30
Destined Rivals brought Team Rocket back to the center of the Pokémon TCG. Pokémon’s promotional material described more than 240 cards and announced more than 45 Team Rocket’s Pokémon. The set’s identity came from the combination of Team Rocket’s Pokémon, named Trainers, and rival-focused story themes.
The main launch products included the standard and Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes and booster bundles. Team Rocket-themed products continued to appear elsewhere in the calendar, including Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex products.
Black Bolt and White Flare — July 18
Black Bolt and White Flare were the first English Pokémon TCG expansions marketed as a simultaneous dual-set release. Both focused on the Unova Pokédex, but they remained two separately named expansions rather than one combined set. Each was promoted as containing more than 170 cards.
The dual release introduced the BWR, or Black White rare, concept and gave collectors separate set-specific products. The July launch included separate Elite Trainer Boxes, Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes, booster bundles, binder collections, and the Unova Poster Collection. Additional products, including Unova Mini Tins, followed through later July and August waves. The English dual-set announcement has the clearest explanation of the product structure.
Mega Evolution — September 26
Mega Evolution began a new Mega Evolution Series and returned Mega Evolution Pokémon to the physical Pokémon TCG as a major modern theme. The U.S. physical launch date was Friday, September 26, 2025, and Pokémon’s launch coverage listed more than 180 cards.
The launch lineup included standard and Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes, booster bundles, and other Mega Evolution products. Some secondary calendars listed September 25, but September 26 is the date to use for the U.S. physical release. The earlier date may reflect a digital launch, an early retailer listing, an international schedule, or a listing that was later corrected.

Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames — November 14
Phantasmal Flames was the second Mega Evolution Series expansion of 2025. It featured Mega Charizard X, Mega Gengar, and other Mega Evolution Pokémon. The physical U.S. release was November 14, with more than 120 cards listed in Pokémon’s official strategy coverage.
Pokémon TCG Live received the expansion on November 13, one day before the physical release. That digital date should not replace the November 14 physical date in a retail schedule.
Month-by-month Pokémon TCG product calendar for 2025
This section expands the set list into a collector-facing calendar. It covers major sealed products and deck releases rather than every individual blister artwork, case configuration, retailer restock, preorder window, or regional shipping wave. Product names are cross-checked against Pokémon’s 2025 Product Gallery; where a single universally confirmed street date is not available, the entry is labeled accordingly.
January 2025
| Date | Major products |
|---|---|
| January 17 | Scarlet & Violet—Prismatic Evolutions; Prismatic Evolutions Booster Bundle; standard and Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes; Binder Collection; Poster Collection; Tech Sticker Collection; Surprise Box; and Mini Tin. |
| January | Knock Out Collection. Exact retail timing varied by retailer and product wave. |
The January 17 date is the expansion’s physical launch date, but individual Prismatic Evolutions products were not guaranteed to appear in every store at the same time. Pokémon Center inventory, distributor shipments, and mass-retail waves could differ.
February 2025
| Date | Major products |
|---|---|
| February 7 | Scarlet & Violet—Blooming Waters Premium Collection |
| February 21 | Azure Legends Tin cases |
These products illustrate why an expansion-only list is not a complete release schedule: significant boxed products arrived between major set launches.

| June 13, announced date | Cynthia’s Garchomp ex Premium Collection and Masks of Ogerpon Premium Collection. |
| June 13 | Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex Box. |
| June 27 | Delayed Charizard ex Special Collection. |
Masks of Ogerpon requires a qualification: it was announced for June 13, but later collector and product records indicated delayed or staggered retail availability, with some references placing actual shelf availability in July. Treat June 13 as the announced date rather than an unquestionably universal U.S. street date. See PokéBeach’s announcement and Bulbapedia’s merchandise record.
July 2025
| Date or wave | Major products |
|---|---|
| July 18 | Scarlet & Violet—Black Bolt and White Flare; separate standard and Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes; separate binder collections; separate booster bundles; and the Unova Poster Collection. |
| July or August | Unova Mini Tin, depending on the product wave. |
The initial Black Bolt and White Flare products began releasing July 18, with additional products reported through August 22. Do not treat every item in the dual-set product family as having an identical universal shelf date.

| August 22 | Pokémon TCG Holiday Calendar and additional Black Bolt or White Flare products and collection formats where applicable. |
The August 22 Holiday Calendar date is listed on Pokémon’s official product page.
September 2025
| Date | Major products |
|---|---|
| September 5 | Team Rocket Tins. |
| September 26 | Mega Evolution; standard and Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes; Booster Bundle; and other launch products whose individual retail timing could vary. |
Some calendars listed Mega Evolution on September 25. For the U.S. physical schedule, use September 26, the date identified in Pokémon’s official launch coverage.
October 2025
The official 2025 Product Gallery confirms several Mega Evolution-era products associated with the post-launch period, including:
- Mega Lucario ex Figure Collection.
- Mega Latias ex Box.
- Mega Heroes Mini Tin.
- Additional Mega Evolution tins and collections.
- Team Rocket-themed boxed products whose retailer dates varied by listing and wave.
Because no single authoritative Pokémon page provides a complete, retrospective U.S. October date table for every one of these products, they are best recorded as later-2025 products unless their individual product pages establish a specific street date. The official 2025 Product Gallery confirms the product identities but is not itself a complete chronological archive.
November 2025
| Date or status | Major products |
|---|---|
| November 14 | Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames; standard and Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Boxes; Booster Bundle; and other launch products. |
| Late 2025 | Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex League Battle Deck; Mega Battle Deck—Mega Gengar ex; and Mega Battle Deck—Mega Diancie ex. |
The physical Phantasmal Flames expansion date is confirmed by Pokémon’s official strategy page.
December 2025
Products listed in the official 2025 gallery for the late-year period included:
- Mega Venusaur ex Premium Collection.
- Collector Chest, Fall 2025.
- Mega Charizard X ex Ultra-Premium Collection.
- Mega Kangaskhan ex Box.
- Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex League Battle Deck.
- Mega Battle Deck—Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex.
Public calendars and retailer listings did not always agree on exact U.S. December street dates. For that reason, these products should be described as late-2025 releases unless an individual official product page is being used to document a precise date. This is more accurate than assigning every product an unsupported December day.
2025 Standard legality and rotation
Retail release and tournament legality were separate milestones in 2025. The relevant tournament documentation stated that new cards became legal for sanctioned play two weeks after release. The dates below are therefore calculated from the physical U.S. release dates and should be read as expected legality dates unless confirmed by the specific tournament-season document for that expansion.
| Expansion | Physical release | Calculated Standard legality |
|---|---|---|
| Prismatic Evolutions | January 17 | January 31 |
| Journey Together | March 28 | April 11 |
| Destined Rivals | May 30 | June 13 |
| Black Bolt and White Flare | July 18 | August 1 |
| Mega Evolution | September 26 | October 10 |
| Phantasmal Flames | November 14 | November 28 |
The 2025 Standard rotation took effect on April 11, 2025 outside Japan. Regulation Mark G and earlier cards rotated out of the Standard format, and Journey Together became legal on that same date. The two-week rule and rotation information are documented in the 2025 tournament material available through Pokémon tournament documentation. Japan uses different release and tournament schedules, so this section should not be applied to the Japanese Standard format.

Prerelease windows
Prerelease events were store- and venue-specific availability events, not one universal worldwide release date. In general, participating stores could run events before the retail launch, often within the two weeks leading up to release.
- Journey Together: prereleases began around March 15, 2025, with additional local events later in March.
- Destined Rivals: prereleases were reported from May 17 or May 18, depending on the venue.
These examples do not mean that every store held an event on those dates. Play! Pokémon League listings show why local event pages are the right source for a specific store, city, or country.
Physical Pokémon TCG versus Pokémon TCG Live dates
Important: Pokémon TCG Live and the physical Pokémon TCG did not always receive a set on the same day. The dates in the main schedule are physical U.S. dates.

Important date corrections
Charizard ex Special Collection: April 11 to June 27
April 11 was the original listed date for the Charizard ex Special Collection, but the product was later delayed. The final date to use in a historical U.S. calendar is June 27, 2025. Bulbapedia’s merchandise record documents the change.
Masks of Ogerpon: announced June 13, availability staggered
Masks of Ogerpon Premium Collection was announced for June 13, but later records indicate delayed or inconsistent retail availability, with some listings placing its shelf release in July. The safest wording is announced for June 13, with later retail delays or staggered availability reported.
Mega Evolution: September 26 for U.S. physical release
Some secondary calendars used September 25, but Pokémon’s U.S. launch coverage identifies Friday, September 26 as the physical release date. September 25 may relate to digital availability, an early retailer listing, an international market, or a superseded schedule.

Why Pokémon TCG release calendars disagree
There are several legitimate reasons for conflicting 2025 dates:
Best Value
- DURABLE EXO-TEC COVER - Crafted with our signature Vault X Exo-Tec Material which is padded, water-resistant, and extra-rigid, offering superior durability and a premium feel for long-term card storage protection
- HIGH-CAPACITY STORAGE - Features 20 double-sided pages with 12 side-loading pockets per page, securely holding up to 480 standard-sized cards. This folder can accommodate both single-sleeved and double-sleeved cards
- PREMIUM CARD PROTECTION - Made with archival-safe, acid-free, PVC-free materials this binder helps shield your collection from dust, moisture, and damage. A high-quality zipper closure ensures cards stay securely enclosed and protected
- FOR COLLECTORS & PLAYERS - Whether you're a collector, trader, or tournament player, this lightweight binder keeps your cards organised, protected, and ready for display or gameplay. Perfect for trading cards, collectible cards and sports cards
- SIZE & COMPATIBILITY - Binder Size: 33cm x 35cm (13” x 13.8”). Card Pocket Size: 6.8cm x 9.7cm (2.7” x 3.8”). Compatible with all standard-sized card sleeves, we recommend using Vault X Exact Fit or Soft Card Sleeves (Penny Sleeves)
- Different things are being counted. An expansion, an Elite Trainer Box, a prerelease, a Live update, and a retailer restock are different types of release event.
- Black Bolt and White Flare complicate the set count. They are two named English expansions released together, not one ordinary set and not two separate launch dates.
- Products arrive in waves. Pokémon Center, distributor, mass-retail, and local-game-store inventory may not reach customers simultaneously.
- Dates change. Charizard ex moved from April 11 to June 27, while Masks of Ogerpon had a less consistent retail rollout than its announcement date suggested.
- Global markets differ. U.S. English, U.K. and European English-language, Australian and New Zealand, Japanese, and digital schedules should not be merged. For example, some secondary coverage recorded Mega Evolution on October 10 in parts of Europe rather than the U.S. September 26 date; see regional release reporting.
- Older full-year articles become incomplete. Beckett’s 2025 calendar was published on August 11, 2025, before Phantasmal Flames had been added to the year’s final schedule, so it did not cover the November expansion or all later products. Beckett’s calendar remains useful for earlier product reporting but should not be treated as the completed year-end archive.
What this schedule does not include
This calendar intentionally excludes:
- Japanese-only Pokémon TCG products and their Japanese release dates.
- Pokémon TCG Pocket expansions.
- Pokémon TCG Live dates except for the clearly labeled digital examples.
- Retailer restocks, preorder windows, shipping delays, and account-based Pokémon Center order waves.
- Every individual blister artwork, case configuration, or packaging variation.
- Unverified leaks and products without a reliable release record.
Japanese products should not be inserted into an English calendar as if they were the same releases. English expansions often combine material from multiple Japanese products, and the English release date can be months later or organized under a different set name.
Bottom line for collectors and players
For collectors, 2025 moved from the Eevee-heavy Prismatic Evolutions product line through Trainer’s Pokémon, Team Rocket, and Unova’s Black Bolt and White Flare, then closed with the launch of the Mega Evolution Series and Phantasmal Flames. For players, the key dates were the April 11 Standard rotation, the two-week wait between physical release and tournament legality, and the fact that Pokémon TCG Live generally launched a day before the physical product for the examples listed above.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Pokémon TCG sets were released in English in 2025?
There were seven named English expansion labels: Prismatic Evolutions, Journey Together, Destined Rivals, Black Bolt, White Flare, Mega Evolution, and Phantasmal Flames. Black Bolt and White Flare launched together on July 18, so they represent one shared launch date but two separate expansions.
Was Prismatic Evolutions a regular booster-box Pokémon TCG set?
No. Prismatic Evolutions was a special expansion whose initial product line emphasized Elite Trainer Boxes, booster bundles, binders, mini tins, poster collections, and other boxed products rather than a conventional booster-display launch.
When did the 2025 Pokémon TCG Standard rotation happen?
The 2025 Standard rotation took effect on April 11, 2025, outside Japan. Regulation Mark G and earlier cards rotated out, and Journey Together became legal on the same date.
Are Pokémon TCG release dates the same worldwide?
No. The dates in this schedule are for U.S. English-language physical products. Japanese, European, U.K., Australian and New Zealand, Pokémon TCG Live, prerelease, and retailer dates can differ.
The Bottom Line
In short: 2025 brought seven named English Pokémon TCG expansions across six physical launch dates, with Black Bolt and White Flare sharing July 18. The most important corrections are Charizard ex moving to June 27, Mega Evolution using September 26 for the U.S. physical launch, and Phantasmal Flames using November 14 rather than its November 13 Live date.
