Roblox image and decal IDs are numeric references to uploaded Roblox assets. You can paste one into a supported experience’s custom-image feature, or use it in Roblox Studio with a Decal, Texture, ImageLabel, ImageButton, or SurfaceGui.
There is no permanent page containing every Roblox image ever uploaded. Roblox stores millions of changing assets, and images can become restricted, moderated, archived, or removed. The reliable meaning of a “full list” is therefore a searchable catalog plus a carefully verified starter list—not a static promise that every number will work forever. Use the official Roblox Creator Store 2D Assets category for the newest results, then verify the asset in the exact game or Studio property where you plan to use it.
Roblox Image and Decal IDs: The Complete Practical Guide
This guide explains what the different Roblox ID types mean, where to find current assets, how to use them in games and Studio, how to upload your own image, and what to do when an ID produces a blank or gray result.
The fastest way to find a current Roblox image ID
- Open Roblox’s 2D Assets Creator Store page.
- Search for a term such as anime eyes, cute cat, crosshair, horror, flag, or transparent logo.
- Filter the results for the relevant image or decal asset type. Creator Store search also provides categories and advanced filters.
- Open the asset page and copy the numeric asset ID shown on the page or in its URL.
- Check the creator, thumbnail, moderation status, and permissions before using it.
- Test the number in the actual game field or Studio property. If it does not load, determine whether that field requires a Decal/catalog ID or the underlying Image/Texture ID.
For Studio users, the quicker route is often Window → Asset Manager or the Asset Manager button on the Home tab. Search or import the image there, then insert it into a test object. Roblox documents the Creator Store and Asset Manager workflows in its Creator Store documentation and Asset Manager documentation.

Popular ID categories and what to search for
Instead of copying an undated list of numbers, use these category searches to find currently available assets. This is safer because the official catalog changes and lets you inspect the creator and permission state before copying an ID.

Community lists can be useful for discovering popular searches. Roblox Den offers a large searchable decal index with categories such as memes, anime, cursed, and aesthetic. Bloxodes presents a smaller curated catalog and describes live-data checks. These are third-party discovery tools, not Roblox’s complete official inventory, and a thumbnail resolving on one site does not guarantee that an asset is usable in every experience.
Image ID, decal ID, texture ID, and asset ID explained
Roblox assets are stored in the cloud and identified by unique numbers. The usual URI format is:
rbxassetid://123456789
The number is the asset reference; the rbxassetid:// prefix is the URI form commonly used in Studio properties and scripts. Roblox’s asset documentation describes this format and its use for uploaded assets.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

|---|---|---|
| Asset ID | General identifier for a Roblox asset. It may refer to an image, decal, mesh, audio item, or another asset type. | Creator Store pages, Studio, scripts |
| Decal ID | Usually the public/catalog identifier for a Decal asset. A Decal applies image content to a surface. |
Creator Store pages and community lists |
| Image ID | Identifier for the uploaded image content associated with an image or decal asset. | UI properties, content fields, Studio inspection |
| Texture ID | Community shorthand often used for the image-content reference needed by an older game field, script, or texture workflow. | Older scripts, custom-image boxes, Studio copy actions |
| Asset URI | The full reference, normally written as rbxassetid://ID. |
Luau and content properties |
These terms are related but are not universally interchangeable. A public Decal page ID may work when pasted into a Studio image property because Studio resolves the linked image, while a particular game or script may require the underlying image or texture content ID. Do not assume that subtracting one from an ID converts it. Roblox asset relationships are not reliably sequential.
Roblox’s privacy documentation confirms that a Decal can be linked to an Image dependency. For a detailed discussion of the two-number problem, compare the separate asset and texture columns used by Pro Game Guides rather than treating every number as the same kind of ID.
Are Roblox image IDs redeem codes?
No. An image or decal ID is not a Robux code, promotional code, or item redemption code. It is an asset reference.
There is no universal Roblox image-ID input box that works across all experiences. A game must deliberately provide a custom-image feature, such as a spray-paint tool, sign editor, painting, billboard, picture frame, or custom decal field. Third-party guides commonly discuss experiences such as Brookhaven, Bloxburg, Da Hood, and Spray Paint-style games, but an experience’s features and restrictions can change. Check the specific game’s current instructions rather than assuming that a valid Roblox asset will work there.
How to use an image or decal ID in a supported Roblox game
- Open the experience’s custom-image, spray-paint, sign, painting, billboard, or picture-frame feature.
- Copy the asset number from the Creator Store or a verified source.
- Paste the number into the game’s input box. Use only the
rbxassetid://form if the field specifically accepts a URI. - Select Apply, Submit, Load, or the equivalent button.
- If the preview is blank, check whether the experience requires the underlying Image/Texture ID instead of the Decal/catalog ID.
An ID cannot add a custom-image system to a game that does not have one. If there is no image field or tool, the asset may be perfectly valid but unusable in that experience.

How to use an ID in Roblox Studio
Put a Decal on a Part or Union
- Open the place in Roblox Studio.
- Create or select a
PartorUnionOperation. - Open Explorer, right-click the object, choose Insert Object, and add a
Decal. - Select the Decal and choose its face:
Top,Bottom,Front,Back,Left, orRight. - In Properties, set
ColorMapContentto the image asset. Paste the URI or choose the asset using Studio’s picker. - Adjust transparency, tint, face, and the Part’s size or orientation.
Roblox’s current Textures and Decals documentation describes Decals as images applied to a face of a BasePart. The current Decal API reference uses ColorMapContent; older tutorials may show the legacy Texture or TextureContent properties, which are deprecated in the current Decal API.
Drag an image from Asset Manager
Open Asset Manager, locate an Image asset, and drag it over a valid BasePart. Studio can create a Decal and set its color-map content automatically. Depending on the Studio version and asset type, the right-click menu may include an insertion command or an ID-copy command. The exact label can vary, so use the inserted object’s content property when you need to identify the image reference.
Use a Texture instead of a Decal
Choose a Texture when the image should repeat, tile, scale, or offset across a surface. A Decal generally stretches one image across one face; a Texture provides repeating and positioning behavior. For a poster, logo, sign, or single picture, a Decal is usually the simpler choice. For brick, fabric, patterns, or a repeating wall design, use a Texture.

For a Roblox interface, put an ImageLabel or ImageButton inside a ScreenGui, BillboardGui, or SurfaceGui, then set its Image property:
local imageLabel = script.Parent
imageLabel.Image = 'rbxassetid://123456789' -- replace with a verified image ID
Roblox documents ImageLabel.Image and ImageButton.Image as properties that can reference uploaded Decal or Image assets. A SurfaceGui can display the same UI object on a Part’s surface.
Current-style Luau content examples
When using the current content API, a numeric asset ID can be represented with Content.fromAssetId(), while a URI can be represented with Content.fromUri(). Replace the placeholder number below with an asset that you own or have permission to use:
local decal = Instance.new('Decal')
decal.Face = Enum.NormalId.Front
decal.ColorMapContent = Content.fromAssetId(123456789)
decal.Parent = workspace.Part
The URI form is:
local decal = Instance.new('Decal')
decal.Face = Enum.NormalId.Front
decal.ColorMapContent = Content.fromUri('rbxassetid://123456789')
decal.Parent = workspace.Part
See Roblox’s Content datatype documentation for the current constructors. If a script rejects a public Decal ID, insert the Decal in Studio and inspect the resulting content reference instead of trying to mathematically convert the number.

Studio Asset Manager workflow
- Open Studio and choose Asset Manager from the Window menu or the Home tab.
- Use the import option and select your image file.
- Wait for the upload and moderation process.
- Find the resulting asset in the appropriate Image or Decal folder.
- Use the asset’s copy-ID action, insert it into a test Part, or inspect its content property.
- Test it in the intended Part, UI object, or published-game context.
Roblox says Asset Manager imports can be used for decals, textures, ImageLabels, mesh textures, custom materials, and special effects. The legacy Asset Manager bulk-import workflow supports up to 50 files in one batch; the newer workflow uses Studio’s Importer process, so the available controls may differ by Studio version.
Creator Dashboard workflow
Uploaded assets can be managed in Creator Dashboard → Development Items → Images or Decals. To distribute an asset through the Creator Store, configure its details and enable Creator Store distribution. The relevant controls are described in Roblox’s Creator Store documentation.

File formats and upload limits
Do not apply one old image-size rule to every Roblox upload workflow. Roblox’s current documentation gives different details for the Assets API and Studio importer:
| Workflow | Documented requirements |
|---|---|
| Assets API image uploads | PNG, JPEG, BMP, or TGA; maximum 20 MB per request; dimensions smaller than 8000 × 8000 pixels. |
| Studio Asset Manager image importing | Roblox’s Asset Manager documentation lists PNG, JPG, GIF, TGA, and BMP. |
These requirements come from Roblox’s Assets API documentation and Asset Manager documentation. A claim that every Roblox decal must be 1024 × 1024 is not a safe universal rule; it may describe an older or different workflow.
Moderation, privacy, and permissions
Uploaded assets must pass moderation before other users can see or interact with them in a published game. Roblox says moderation generally takes a few hours, while other moderation guidance warns that some workflows can take up to 24 hours. Treat both as estimates, not guarantees.
A newly uploaded image may appear to work for its owner in Studio while remaining unavailable to other players or to a published experience. Pending assets, declined assets, and assets with permission problems can all look like broken IDs.
Restricted versus Open Use
Roblox’s dedicated Asset Privacy documentation explains that Images, Decals, and Meshes can be Restricted or Open Use. Restricted assets require permission checks, so a different creator’s game may not be allowed to load them. A game can be granted access through Creator Dashboard, or you can use an asset that is available for Open Use.
- A Decal cannot be made Open Use unless its linked Image is also Open Use.
- Making an asset Open Use is irreversible.
- Granting a game access to a restricted asset is permanent.
- Do not make a personal or commercially sensitive asset public merely to solve a loading error.
Roblox’s general Assets page describes imported assets as private by default, while the dedicated privacy page describes Images, Decals, and Meshes as Open Use by default unless Asset Privacy is enabled. These statements are setting- and workflow-dependent, so check the asset’s actual privacy state in Creator Dashboard rather than relying on a blanket assumption.
Copyright and safety
Do not upload adult, hateful, extremist, graphic, exploitative, or infringing material just because it appears in a third-party decal list. Roblox can moderate or remove assets that violate its Community Standards, Terms of Use, copyright rules, or other platform policies. A popular anime character, company logo, sports emblem, or meme is not automatically safe to upload or redistribute.
Why a Roblox image ID fails: a diagnostic guide
Follow the branches in order. Testing the same number repeatedly will not fix a missing feature, a restricted asset, or a wrong ID type.

The experience does not support custom images
Some games do not expose any custom-image system. Others allow images only through a particular tool, paid feature, private server, or approved list. An asset page opening successfully does not mean the game accepts arbitrary image IDs.

You used the wrong ID type
Try the number exactly as copied, then try the rbxassetid://ID form if the field accepts URIs. In Studio, insert the Decal and inspect its resulting ColorMapContent. In older projects you may see a legacy Texture value. Use the underlying image/content reference when a game field or script does not resolve a Decal ID automatically.
Never rely on the shortcut “subtract 1” to convert an image ID into a decal ID. Developer discussions such as Roblox’s Decal ID discussion and the historical image-to-decal converter discussion illustrate why asset relationships should be inspected rather than guessed.
The asset is pending moderation
Wait and test again after moderation. Roblox documents that users cannot see or interact with an asset in a published game while it remains in the moderation queue. If it still does not appear after the expected review window, check the asset’s status in Creator Dashboard.
The asset is restricted
Grant the destination game access through the asset’s privacy controls, or choose an Open Use asset. Remember that making an asset Open Use is irreversible, so granting access is usually the more cautious option for a private project.
The asset was archived or removed
Roblox may remove assets for Community Standards, Terms of Use, copyright, or other moderation violations. Archived assets can disappear from the website and become unusable even in the owner’s games. Find a replacement through the Creator Store rather than trying to repair a dead number.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to judge whether an ID is really “working”
“Working” needs a context and a date. A useful catalog entry should record more than one number:
| Record field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Preview thumbnail | Confirms that the image is visually the one you intended to copy. |
| Name and category | Makes the entry searchable and easier to replace. |
| Decal/catalog ID | Identifies the public asset page when applicable. |
| Image/texture ID | Records the content reference if the consuming field needs it separately. |
| Creator | Helps with attribution and later verification. |
| Official Roblox asset link | Lets readers inspect the live status, permissions, and details. |
| Last verified date | Shows how quickly the entry may become stale. |
| Verification context | Distinguishes website, Studio, and a named game test. |
| Status | Use labels such as Active, Restricted, Pending, Moderated, Archived, or Unverified. |
| Notes | Record transparency, aspect ratio, face orientation, and ID-type warnings. |
The strongest label is not simply working, but something specific such as Studio verified, thumbnail verified, or game verified in [experience] on [date]. No list should claim that an ID works everywhere.
Static list versus searchable catalog
| Approach | Advantages | Limitations |
|---|---|---|
| Static curated list | Fast to scan, easy to organize, and useful for popular recognizable images. | IDs become stale, removed entries break, and it cannot represent Roblox’s entire asset inventory. |
| Searchable database | Supports keywords, creators, categories, previews, and larger inventories; dead entries can be removed or flagged. | Third-party indexing does not prove game-specific permission or compatibility. |
| Official Creator Store | Most authoritative place to inspect current assets, creators, categories, and availability. | Requires searching and testing; an official listing still does not guarantee compatibility with a particular game. |
Roblox Den claims an index of more than 10 million decal records, while Bloxodes describes a smaller curated catalog with live-data checks. Those claims describe different discovery products, not proof that either site contains Roblox’s complete inventory.

Keeping your own reliable ID list
If you frequently build in Studio or use custom-image games, keep a small spreadsheet or notes file with one row per asset:
Name | Category | Decal ID | Image/Texture ID | Creator | Official URL | Context | Last checked | Status | Notes
- Copy the official asset link immediately after finding an image.
- Record both IDs when Studio exposes separate Decal and image-content references.
- Mark whether you checked the website, thumbnail, Studio, or a specific game.
- Remove entries that are archived, moderated, private, or no longer load.
- Recheck popular assets before publishing a game or sharing a list.
This approach is more dependable than saving a random number from a social-media post. It also makes it possible to replace a removed meme, logo, or character image without rebuilding the entire project.
rbxassetid:// versus rbxgameasset://
For reusable cross-game asset references, use rbxassetid://ID. Roblox also supports rbxgameasset:// for assets uploaded through Asset Manager, but that reference works only for the current game. It is useful for game-local resources, not for a public ID list or an asset that must be reused across multiple experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use any Roblox decal ID in any game?
No. The experience must provide a custom-image feature, and it may require a particular ID type, restrict assets, or use an allowlist. A valid Creator Store page does not guarantee that the image will load in every game.
What is the difference between a decal ID and an image ID?
A Decal is an asset that applies image content to a surface, while the linked Image supplies the visual content. Studio may resolve a Decal ID automatically, but some scripts and game input fields require the underlying Image or Texture reference.
Can I convert an image ID to a decal ID by subtracting one?
No. Roblox asset IDs are not reliably sequential. Insert the Decal in Studio and inspect its content reference, or use the appropriate copy-ID action.
How long does Roblox image moderation take?
Roblox says moderation generally occurs within a few hours, but other moderation guidance warns that some workflows can take up to 24 hours. This is an estimate, not a guaranteed deadline.
Why does my image work in Studio but not in a published game?
The asset may still be pending, restricted, or unavailable to the game. Check Asset Privacy permissions, confirm that the linked Image is usable, and test the published experience after moderation completes.
What image size can I upload to Roblox?
Requirements depend on the workflow. Roblox’s Assets API documentation lists PNG, JPEG, BMP, and TGA files under 20 MB with dimensions smaller than 8000 × 8000 pixels. Studio Asset Manager documentation lists PNG, JPG, GIF, TGA, and BMP. Do not rely on an old universal 1024 × 1024 claim.
The Bottom Line
For a current Roblox image or decal ID, search the official Creator Store 2D Assets catalog, copy the live asset reference, and test it where you need it. Treat “Decal ID,” “Image ID,” and “Texture ID” as related but context-dependent terms; check permissions and moderation before blaming the number. A maintained, verified catalog is useful, but no static list can remain a complete list of every Roblox image.
