- Separate the physical-material words. FIBER, STRAND, STRING, and THREAD have closely related filament meanings, although their overlap with other possible categories makes this group easy to second-guess.
- Read the remaining abstract words as descriptions of behavior. ABANDON, FREEDOM, SPONTANEITY, and UNRESTRAINT all suggest uninhibitedness once “abandon” is interpreted as carefree behavior.
- Inspect the leftover music names. BEN FOLDS, JACKSON, and MAROON all point toward acts containing the number five. That pattern makes MC much less mysterious: it completes MC5.
