How to use cheats in Age of Empires 4
Age of Empires IV cheats work in Custom and Skirmish games only when Cheats Allowed is enabled before the match starts. Create a Custom game or configure a Skirmish match, open the in-game chat, and enter the cheat phrase exactly as shown below. If a copied code does not work, remove any extra spaces at the beginning, end, or between words.
Cheats are not available in Quick Match or Ranked games. After cheats have been used in a game, that match cannot contribute to Achievements, Challenges, or Masteries. The official Age of Empires IV cheat guide also identifies a limited number of codes that work in particular Campaign contexts; do not assume that every code works in every mode.

Resource cheats
Use an individual resource code when you need to solve a specific shortage:
full meal dealgrants Food.i have an app ideagrants Gold.take it for granitegrants Stone.knock on woodgrants Wood.
If you want a large supply of everything at once, use smorgasbord. It grants 100,000 of every resource, making it more suitable for a sandbox or experiment than for a normal competitive match.
Speed and age-up cheats
inna jiffy instantly handles building, research, and unit production. It does not mean the same thing as advancing through the ages. To move to the next age immediately, use age me up scotty.
For a private test match, those two codes can be combined: use age me up scotty to reach the required age and inna jiffy to remove production and research waiting times. This is an inference from the two documented effects, not a guarantee that every technology or unit will be available in every situation.

The codes another round and another cup are separate. The first slows the simulation in the Campaign or Skirmish contexts listed by the official table; the second enables Turbo Mode in those contexts.
Map and visibility cheats: the two similar codes
The two “known” codes have different purposes:
it was knownremoves the Fog of War, so previously hidden areas are no longer concealed.it is knownreveals or hides the map.
They are not interchangeable. If your aim is to see the terrain and map layout, use it is known; if your aim is to remove the uncertainty created by Fog of War, use it was known.
Combat, unit, and building cheats
photon manspawns a Photon Man unit.make it quickkills the units and buildings you have selected.anti-pokemakes all units and buildings invulnerable.you monsterkills all Gaia units. A later Season Four Update 6.0.878 note specifically records a fix for cattle not dying when this cheat was used, confirming that the Gaia-kill behavior remains an implemented feature.one of usconverts selected units.this is finesets selected buildings on fire.zeleportmoves selected units to the cursor.king size bedssets the maximum population cap.big bad sheepturns sheep into wolves.
Selection matters for commands such as make it quick, one of us, this is fine, and zeleport. Select the intended units or buildings before entering the phrase so that the command affects the correct targets.

Audio and interface cheats
out with the new replaces the attack-notification alarm with the Age of Empires II alarm. The interface command, minimally minimal, hides or shows the user interface and is listed as available in all game modes. That broad availability is an exception; it does not mean that the other cheats work in Quick Match, Ranked, or every Campaign mission.

Campaign availability
Campaign support is limited and should be read code by code. The official table identifies resource cheats, king size beds, big bad sheep, and out with the new as having Campaign availability where applicable. It also lists another round and another cup for Campaign and Skirmish contexts.
Most of the combat, age, production, visibility, and unit-manipulation codes are listed for Custom or Skirmish only. If a code does nothing during a Campaign mission, that may be a mode restriction rather than a typing error. The official support table is the best reference for exceptions because Campaign behavior is not universal across the list.
What cheats do to progression
Using cheats prevents progression toward Achievements, Challenges, and Masteries in that game. For that reason, keep cheats in a disposable Custom or Skirmish match when experimenting. Do not enable them in a game you intend to use for progression.
Built-in cheats are also different from unauthorized trainers, map hacks, or external tools. They are documented game features for supported modes, while cheating in prohibited online contexts can lead to account penalties under the official conduct and ban guidance. Cheats cannot be used in Quick Match or Ranked modes.

Using mods for repeatable experiments
If you need a persistent testing environment rather than one-off chat commands, official mods can be a better option. Age of Empires IV supports four broad mod categories:
- Crafted Maps: custom terrain, wildlife, resources, units, and scripted events.
- Tuning Packs: changes to statistics such as unit costs, speed, durability, and attacks.
- Generated Maps: custom map-generation behavior.
- Game Modes: changes to victory conditions and core match behavior.

Quick troubleshooting checklist
- Confirm that you started a Custom or Skirmish game, rather than Quick Match or Ranked.
- Confirm that Cheats Allowed was checked in the game settings before the match began.
- Open the in-game chat and enter the complete phrase, including every word.
- Remove copied leading, trailing, or unintended internal spaces.
- Check whether the code is actually listed for the mode you are playing, especially in a Campaign mission.
- For target-based commands, select the intended units or buildings before entering the code.
