The word also explains the trickier letter clues: it starts with N, ends with N, and has the same letter in both the first and fifth positions. The three letters in between—Y, L, and O—are all different.
How difficult was Wordle #1571?
The repeated N may have made this puzzle harder than its definition suggests. Players who found an early N could still overlook the possibility that the same letter appeared at the end. Some guides described the puzzle as difficult, but that is an editorial assessment rather than an official New York Times difficulty rating.

How to play Wordle
Wordle gives you six attempts to find a five-letter answer. After each guess, the tiles provide feedback:
- Green: the letter is correct and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter appears in the answer but is in the wrong position.
- Gray: the letter does not appear in the answer, subject to Wordle’s handling of repeated letters.
A useful strategy is to begin with a guess that tests several common vowels and consonants. Once you have a likely repeated letter, do not assume it can occur only once: NYLON is a good example of a solution with the same consonant at both ends.
