Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 dominates the 2025 awards
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was the night’s defining winner. It took the top prize along with awards recognizing its direction, writing, visual identity, music, acting, independent development, debut status, and role-playing design.
The nine-win result was especially notable because Sandfall Interactive’s game won both independent categories: Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game. What the 2025 results mean
The jury and the audience chose different top games
The split between the two headline awards is one of the clearest takeaways from the ceremony. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 won the jury-selected Game of the Year award and dominated the broader awards slate. Wuthering Waves, however, won Players’ Voice after the final fan-voted round. Neither award replaces the other: they measure different forms of recognition.

Counter-Strike 2, Chovy, and Team Vitality represented the competitive side of the industry, each winning in an esports category.
The category names matter
The official category wording is more specific than some shortened versions used in secondary coverage. This list uses Best Role-Playing, Best Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality, Best Simulation / Strategy, and Best Sports / Racing. Best Action / Adventure is also kept as a combined category rather than being reduced to Action-Adventure in the headings.
