Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a single-player archaeological adventure built around investigation, improvisation, and cinematic first-person exploration. This guide covers the main-story route, open-area strategy, puzzles, stealth and combat, collectibles, The Order of Giants DLC, New Game+, platforms, and PC requirements without inventing unverified collectible counts or puzzle solutions.
What kind of game is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle?
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a single-player, cinematic archaeological adventure rather than a conventional shooter. You primarily inhabit Indy from a first-person perspective as the story moves between linear set pieces and expansive areas built for investigation.
The original story is set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. It is not a retelling of either film. The mystery revolves around an ancient power connected to the Great Circle and takes Indy from Marshall College to the Vatican, Gizeh in Egypt, Sukhothai, and other locations.
The most important lesson is to play like an archaeologist, not a soldier. Examine your surroundings, photograph clues, read documents, use the whip for movement and control, and decide whether each encounter is best solved with stealth, improvisation, melee, or a firearm.

Which version should you buy?
If you own a PS5 and want a physical copy, the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle PS5 version is the most straightforward option to compare. The official Bethesda purchase listing identifies Amazon among the available retailers, but price, stock, physical contents, and regional availability can change.
Xbox and PC buyers should compare buying the game with subscription access. The game had Xbox Game Pass access at launch, but the current catalog, subscription tier, pricing, and regional availability are changeable. Check the current Xbox listing before subscribing or assuming that a particular tier includes the game.
The Indiana Jones Great Circle Collector’s Bundle is aimed at fans who want physical memorabilia rather than merely the game. Its documented contents include a globe with hidden storage, an Allmaker relic replica, a SteelBook display case, and an adventure journal. It also includes Premium Edition content such as The Order of Giants, a digital artbook, and the Temple of Doom outfit. Availability is region-dependent, so verify the contents of the specific listing before purchasing.

Use the guide in layers
This guide separates broad navigation, exploration advice, puzzle help, and story-related information so you can stop before seeing more than you want. For puzzles, use this order:
- Nudge: inspect the relevant room, object, document, or photograph without revealing the interaction order.
- Stronger hint: identify what needs to move, turn, align, or be examined next.
- Full solution: use only when you want the sequence spelled out.
Indy’s camera can provide incremental hints, and the game includes adjustable puzzle difficulty. If you want to preserve the intended discovery experience, try investigating first and use the camera hint only when the logic of a puzzle has stopped being productive.
Choose your priorities
- Story first: follow the primary objective and treat open areas as optional excursions until you are ready to explore.
- Exploration first: investigate every room around a story objective, photograph unusual clues, and read documents before moving on.
- Low-friction puzzles: lower the puzzle difficulty or use the camera’s hints rather than looking up every solution.
- Combat flexibility: observe patrols and identify cover or concealment before committing to a fight.
The documented accessibility information confirms adjustable puzzle difficulty and camera-based incremental hints. It does not represent an exhaustive list of every setting in the game, so check the current in-game accessibility menu for the options available on your platform.
Essential beginner tips
1. Explore before leaving an open area
Open areas are designed to reward slow investigation. Before departing, look for hidden rooms, side activities, environmental clues, documents, photographs, and optional puzzles. The objective marker tells you where the story wants you to go; it does not necessarily identify everything worth finding nearby.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
When a passage appears inaccessible, record its location and return later if the story provides a new route or interaction. Do not waste time repeatedly forcing a blocked path when the environment is clearly communicating that it is for later.
2. Photograph clues instead of treating the camera as a collectible-only tool
Photography and investigation work together. The camera documents clues and can help with puzzle hints, while photographs and related discoveries contribute to the broader exploration and progression loop. When a room contains a suspicious inscription, mechanism, document, mural, or object, take a photograph before leaving the area.
3. Read documents and inspect the environment
Documents, field notes, photographs, and environmental details often provide context as well as practical information. Read them near the place where you found them: the surrounding objects may explain what the document is pointing toward.
4. Treat the whip as a traversal tool first
The whip can attack, disarm, and distract enemies, but its most distinctive role is movement. Use it to swing over patrols, reach otherwise inaccessible surfaces, and navigate set-piece environments. Many situations become easier when you use the whip to change your position or control the encounter rather than trying to defeat everyone directly.

Everyday objects can become improvised weapons or distractions. A bottle, tool, or other loose object may give you a way to draw attention away from a doorway, interrupt an enemy, or create a melee opening without spending ammunition.

6. Do not spend every resource on minor encounters
Stealth, distractions, melee, firearms, and environmental interactions are all supported. Firearms are useful when stealth or close combat is unfavorable, but conserving them gives you more options for difficult encounters. If an area contains only a small patrol, consider bypassing it or using an improvised solution instead of exhausting your supplies.
Main-story walkthrough strategy
The game’s campaign alternates between directed narrative sequences and open-area investigations. The safest spoiler-managed route is to complete the primary objective in each region while using the following exploration loop before advancing:
- Read the current objective carefully and identify the next story-critical location.
- Search the surrounding rooms for documents, photographs, field notes, hidden entrances, and optional interactions.
- Photograph important clues before interacting with the associated mechanism or puzzle.
- Scout hostile areas and decide whether to sneak, distract, fight, or simply move around them.
- Mark blocked routes and suspicious locations for a later return.
- Spend only the resources needed to complete the encounter, keeping alternatives available for the next section.
Marshall College and the opening
The opening establishes Indy’s investigation and leads into the wider mystery. Treat this portion as a tutorial for the game’s central habits: inspect the environment, document clues, learn how the whip interacts with the world, and do not assume that every useful object is a conventional weapon.
Because the early sections are more linear, concentrate on learning the investigation rhythm rather than attempting to clear every room immediately. When the game begins opening up, apply the full exploration loop instead of rushing from marker to marker.
The Vatican
The Vatican is the first major open exploration area and one of the most important places to slow down. Alongside the main story, search for secrets, hidden rooms, side activities, documents, photographs, optional puzzles, and fieldwork.
The Vatican can later be revisited, so an apparently inaccessible route is not automatically a permanently missed opportunity. Still, investigate each available branch before leaving: returning later is useful, but remembering where every clue and blocked passage was located is harder than taking a photograph or note when you first encounter it.
In hostile sections, use the environment to separate enemies. A distraction can open a route that a direct fight would close, while the whip can help you reposition or interfere with an enemy. If you choose combat, use nearby objects and melee opportunities before relying on firearms.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Gizeh and Egypt
Gizeh is another major investigation area. Approach it as a collection of connected discoveries rather than a single straight path. Search around story locations, photograph clues, inspect documents, and look for optional mysteries and fieldwork before moving to the next major objective.
When the story unlocks access to a new route or interaction, revisit suspicious locations rather than assuming the first pass was complete. Keep a short list of sealed doors, high ledges, unusual mechanisms, and routes that appeared to require a tool or later context.
Sukhothai
Sukhothai continues the game’s open-area structure and rewards the same patient approach. Explore around the main objective, use the camera on clues, and investigate side activities before leaving an area. Water-based navigation and environmental puzzles make it especially important to observe the full space before choosing an interaction.
Do not treat a puzzle’s first visible mechanism as the whole puzzle. Look for the clue that explains its purpose, then identify the objects or routes that connect to it. If you become stuck, use the camera hint in stages rather than jumping immediately to a full solution.

Linear story sequences and set pieces
Not every chapter is an open-area checklist. Some sequences are more tightly directed and are built around cinematic movement, stealth, combat, and set-piece navigation. In these sections, prioritize survival and forward progress. Search side rooms when the route allows it, but do not assume that every brief corridor contains a full exploration zone.
The campaign’s central mystery connects the regions, but the game remains an original adventure rather than a scene-by-scene adaptation of a film. Expect familiar Indiana Jones tone and iconography without treating the story as a replay of Raiders or The Last Crusade.
How to solve puzzles without losing the adventure
A reliable puzzle process
- Survey the entire room. Check walls, floors, alcoves, documents, inscriptions, lighting, and unusual objects.
- Photograph the clue. The camera may record the information and can offer an incremental hint.
- Separate clue from mechanism. The inscription or image may explain a nearby device rather than the object directly in front of you.
- Test one change at a time. If several objects can move, keep track of what each interaction changes.
- Look for environmental confirmation. A newly opened route, sound, movement, or visual change usually tells you that an action worked.
- Use a stronger hint only after checking your assumptions. Many apparent dead ends come from overlooking a document, a second side of a room, or a route above or below the starting position.
The Order of Giants follows this design philosophy and adds at least one new water-direction puzzle type. For that puzzle category, map the available water routes and determine what changing a direction affects before repeatedly cycling controls at random.
When to use the camera hint
Use it when you have identified the room but cannot determine the next meaningful interaction, or when you have found a mechanism but cannot connect it to the surrounding clue. It is particularly useful for confirming whether you have missed an object or whether your interaction order is wrong.
Using a hint does not turn the game into a conventional action game. It preserves the investigation structure while removing the least useful kind of frustration: searching an already-understood room for one overlooked detail.
Stealth, combat, and resource management
Scout before you commit
Watch patrol routes, locate concealment, and identify objects that can distract enemies. A few seconds of observation can reveal a route that avoids a fight entirely. If you are discovered, reassess rather than automatically escalating: movement, cover, melee, distractions, and firearms all remain possible responses.
Use the whip to control space
The whip can distract, disarm, and attack. Its value is not simply damage. It can interrupt an enemy, create distance, or help you reach a safer position. In a crowded encounter, mobility and control are often more useful than standing in the open and trading attacks.
Make the environment work for you
Ordinary objects are part of the combat system. Throwing or placing an object can redirect attention, while using one as a melee weapon can preserve ammunition. Look around before fighting: the room may contain the tool that makes the encounter manageable.
When firearms make sense
Use a firearm when stealth is no longer practical, when close-range melee is dangerous, or when the encounter gives you no safe route around the opposition. Otherwise, conserve ammunition and experiment with stealth, distractions, improvised weapons, and the whip.
When to disengage
Disengaging is a legitimate solution when the objective is to reach a location rather than defeat every enemy. Break line of sight, move through concealment, use a distraction, or change elevation with the whip. The game’s flexible encounter design supports more than one correct response.
Open-area completion checklist
Use this checklist in the Vatican, Gizeh, Sukhothai, and other areas that allow meaningful exploration:
Rank #4
- Advance the main objective enough to understand what the area is asking you to investigate.
- Photograph clues and unusual environmental details.
- Read documents and field notes rather than leaving them unexplored.
- Search for hidden rooms and optional puzzles.
- Complete available side activities and fieldwork when you want a more thorough clear.
- Inspect routes above, below, and behind the obvious objective path.
- Record blocked entrances and return when the story provides a new way forward.
- Check your Adventure Books, Medicine Bottles, local currency, photographs, documents, and other discoveries before moving on.
The game’s systems reward investigation, but it is safer not to label a particular item permanently missable without a verified, current checklist. Collectible counts, exact objective names, and trophy requirements can vary between guides and should be confirmed from current game data before being treated as definitive.

Collectibles and progression
Adventure Books
Adventure Books and related progression systems reward exploration. They are not merely background lore: they form part of the game’s progression loop, so searching optional areas can improve a later playthrough even when you are primarily interested in the story.
What to track
The important categories to keep an eye on include Adventure Books, Medicine Bottles, local currency, photographs, documents, and field notes. Treat local currency and Medicine Bottles as resources rather than assuming they are conventional collectibles. If you are pursuing a complete clear, track each category by region instead of relying on memory.
How to avoid an inefficient 100% run
- Photograph clues as soon as you find them.
- Read documents in the area where they were discovered.
- Finish optional activities before abandoning an open-area objective, where practical.
- Keep notes on blocked routes and unusual mechanisms.
- Return to the Vatican later rather than repeatedly searching the same inaccessible passage during the first visit.
- Do not spend all local currency or Medicine Bottles during routine encounters if a more difficult section may follow.
The Order of Giants DLC
The Order of Giants is a substantial standalone story chapter set during the events of the main campaign. It requires the base game and expands the Nephilim storyline. It is not positioned as a sequel that takes place after the ending.
The DLC launched on September 4, 2025. Its story begins through the Vatican and then expands into Rome locations beyond Vatican City, including the Colosseum, Vatican Gardens, the River Tiber, the Cloaca Maxima, and underground crypts.
The chapter involves Father Ricci, the Cult of Mithras, Emperor Nero’s gladiatorial legacy, a colossal beast, and returning characters. Those details explain the DLC’s tone and setting without revealing its major story resolutions.
When should you play it?
Official developer material says the DLC can be started before the main story is complete without spoiling the main campaign. For the richest context and the cleanest spoiler experience, playing the base story first is the safest recommendation. If you prefer to experience the events as an in-campaign chapter, you can begin it earlier, provided you are comfortable with additional story context appearing before the main ending.
Use the same habits as in the base game: investigate Rome’s side routes, photograph clues, search the crypts carefully, and approach water-direction puzzles methodically rather than guessing.

The following documented progress carries over:
- Collected and unlocked Adventure Books
- Unspent Adventure Points
- Local currency
- Medicine Bottles
New Game+ is therefore especially useful if your first playthrough focused on the story and left exploration unfinished. You can begin the second run with the benefits of progress you already earned instead of treating it as a completely blank save.
What is new?
Completing the story in New Game+ provides a new ending sequence. If you want a reason to revisit the campaign after seeing the original ending, this is the main narrative incentive. For a more demanding second run, consider increasing the difficulty rather than repeating the exact settings from the first playthrough.

The Anniversary Update also added a free jacket-free, Cairo-inspired Indy outfit. The outfit is separate from the documented list of New Game+ carry-over items.
PC requirements and technical guidance
These are the published Steam requirements, not independent performance benchmarks. They describe the developer’s stated targets, so actual performance can vary with drivers, settings, resolution, background software, and the rest of the system.
Recommended Free Tools
| Specification | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | 64-bit Windows 10 | 64-bit Windows 10 |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | Hardware-ray-tracing-capable GPU | Use the current Steam listing for the full recommended GPU specification |
| Storage | 120 GB and an SSD | 120 GB and an SSD |
| Published target | 1080p at 60 fps on Low | 1440p at 60 fps on High |
Do not interpret the 60-fps figures as a guarantee. The minimum and recommended targets are manufacturer-published goals, not a promise that every PC with the listed parts will produce identical results.
PC preparation checklist
- Confirm that the system uses a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or a compatible current Windows installation.
- Install the game on an SSD with at least the listed storage capacity available.
- Verify that the GPU supports hardware ray tracing; a generic “gaming GPU” label is not enough.
- Close unnecessary background applications if the system is short on memory or storage bandwidth.
- Start with the published target preset and resolution, then adjust settings based on your own system.
- Update the graphics driver and Windows through the normal official channels when troubleshooting instability.
General Windows troubleshooting
If your PC has broader storage, stability, or Windows performance problems, address those problems separately from the game’s requirements. Outbyte PC Repair is a general Windows repair and optimization utility, not a way to make unsupported hardware satisfy the game’s requirements. It cannot guarantee a frame rate, replace a ray-tracing-capable GPU, or substitute for the required SSD.
For general Windows PC troubleshooting, first verify the published hardware requirements, available storage, drivers, temperatures, and background software. A repair utility should be considered only for general system maintenance, not as a game-specific performance fix.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Rushing past the Vatican: it is the first major open area and contains more than the critical path.
- Using the whip only as a weapon: traversal and positioning are often its most valuable functions.
- Firing immediately: stealth, distractions, melee, and improvised weapons are core parts of the design.
- Ignoring the camera: photographs and incremental hints support both investigation and puzzle solving.
- Assuming every blocked route is missable: the Vatican can be revisited, and later story progression can change access.
- Looking for a film adaptation: the game is an original 1937 adventure between established films.
- Starting the DLC without checking your spoiler preference: it can be played before the main story ends, but the base campaign gives its context more naturally.
- Trusting a frame-rate promise: Steam’s figures are published targets, not independent benchmarks.
- Assuming the game is Xbox-exclusive: current official purchase information includes PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 as well as Xbox and PC options.
Bottom line
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is at its best when you slow down and investigate. Explore the Vatican and other open areas before following the next marker, photograph clues, let the camera provide only as much help as you need, use the whip to move and control encounters, and treat combat as a flexible problem rather than a requirement to empty every magazine.
Play the main story first if you want the cleanest introduction to the mystery, then use The Order of Giants and New Game+ for additional context and replay value. If you are buying now, choose the platform that matches your hardware and region, and verify current edition, Game Pass, and physical-retail availability before paying.
