Constellation: Wish quest steps
Constellation: Wish is the fourth and final quest in the original Constellation series for Wish-Keeper. To complete it, you must reveal a constellation in the Gardens of Esila using Wish-Keeper and then finish the Starcrossed Exotic mission on Legend difficulty. The reward is the Hatchling Refit, which adds the Hatchling weapon trait to the craftable Wish-Keeper Exotic Strand bow.
The quest has two distinct parts:
- A Dreaming City investigation in which you find and activate a Celestial Anomaly.
- A Legend-difficulty Starcrossed completion after collecting the inscription.
Before you start
- Have Wish-Keeper available and equip it before interacting with the anomaly. The stars must be shot with Wish-Keeper; another weapon will not substitute for it.
- Make sure Constellation: Wish is the active quest.
- Be prepared to complete Starcrossed on Legend, including its final encounter. Visiting the mission or completing it on Normal does not satisfy this requirement.
Access is more complicated for returning players than it was during Season of the Wish. The original seasonal quest chain is not a dependable modern route. Check the H.E.L.M., the Quest Archive, and the current Starcrossed activity in the Director or Portal. Bungie’s current activity structure lists Starcrossed among the available Exotic missions, but the exact prerequisite or launch prompt can depend on the current game structure and your account’s progression. Do not assume that Mara Sov will always offer the old seasonal sequence in exactly its original form.
Constellation: Wish walkthrough
1. Speak with Mara Sov in the H.E.L.M.
Go to the H.E.L.M. and speak with Mara Sov. Accept Constellation: Wish and read the first objective, which sends you to investigate a celestial anomaly in the Dreaming City.

If Mara does not offer the quest, check the Quest Archive and then inspect Starcrossed in the Director or Portal. The absence of the old Season of the Wish questline does not necessarily mean the mission is unavailable; current access may be presented through the activity itself or a different prerequisite prompt.
2. Travel to the Dreaming City
Launch into the Dreaming City patrol destination with Wish-Keeper in your inventory or equipped. The quest should register the destination visit and direct you toward the Gardens of Esila.
3. Go to the Gardens of Esila
From the Dreaming City landing area, travel toward The Strand. Follow the patrol-zone paths and stairs leading from The Strand into the Gardens of Esila. The exact anomaly may not appear as an obvious waypoint, so reaching the named area is more important than searching for a marker on the map.
4. Find the Celestial Anomaly
When you enter the Gardens proper, look to your left. Search for a large rocky butte or raised outcrop. Climb to the top of this formation and look for the bright, glowing point or beam of light: this is the Celestial Anomaly.
The location is near the part of the Gardens associated with the Ascendant Challenge area. If you are following the paths through the Gardens and cannot see the anomaly, move toward the elevated rocky area rather than staying on the lower route.
5. Activate the anomaly and shoot the stars
Interact with the Celestial Anomaly to reveal a field of stars. Equip Wish-Keeper, aim upward, and shoot the glowing stars one at a time.
Continue shooting until the full constellation forms. Hitting only some of the stars will not complete the objective. When the pattern is finished, the quest tracker should update and an inscription should become available at the anomaly’s location.
6. Collect the inscription
Interact with the newly revealed inscription. This is a separate interaction from shooting the stars, so do not leave immediately after the constellation appears. Collecting the inscription advances the quest to its final activity requirement.

7. Complete Starcrossed on Legend
Launch the Starcrossed Exotic mission on Legend difficulty and complete the entire activity, including the final encounter. The quest reward is tied to the required Legend completion; simply visiting Starcrossed, starting it, or finishing a lower-difficulty version is not enough.
After the successful Legend completion, the quest awards the Hatchling Refit for Wish-Keeper.
What the Hatchling Refit does
The Hatchling Refit adds the Hatchling weapon trait to Wish-Keeper. Hatchling can create a Threadling after precision final blows or rapid defeats, giving the Strand bow an additional way to generate Threadlings.

Constellation: Wish troubleshooting
The quest is missing
Check these locations and activities in order:
- Speak with Mara Sov in the H.E.L.M.
- Open the Quest Archive and look in the appropriate abandoned or archived quest section.
- Inspect the current Starcrossed node in the Director or Portal.
- Follow any prerequisite or unlock prompt shown by the current activity UI.
The historic Season of the Wish progression may no longer appear as it did during the season. Current availability can depend on the supported Starcrossed activity path rather than the original seasonal quest chain.
The Celestial Anomaly is not there
Confirm that Constellation: Wish is active and that Wish-Keeper is available on your character. The anomaly is quest-gated; it is not a normal Dreaming City patrol collectible that should always be visible.
In the Gardens of Esila, search the rocky rise on the left when entering the area. The anomaly is on top of the outcrop, not on the lower path.
Shooting the stars does not advance the quest
- Use Wish-Keeper, not another bow or weapon.
- Target the glowing stars in the revealed sky.
- Continue until the complete constellation pattern forms.
- Afterward, interact with the inscription at the anomaly.
Completing only part of the pattern will not finish the step, and the inscription interaction is required before the Legend mission objective becomes relevant.
The reward did not appear after Starcrossed
Verify all three conditions:
- You completed the inscription step before launching the mission.
- You selected Legend difficulty.
- You completed the final encounter and finished the mission rather than leaving early.
Also check the exact reward name. Hatchling Refit is the Constellation: Wish reward. It is separate from Wish-Keeper’s other intrinsic upgrades, including the Snareweaver-related upgrades, so do not confuse an intrinsic upgrade with this catalyst refit.
Can I use Fireteam Finder?
Historical Bungie documentation stated that Avalon and Starcrossed were not available through Fireteam Finder when they appeared in the Exotic Mission Rotator in July 2024. That was a service limitation for that implementation and may not describe every later Portal or activity configuration. Check the current in-game Fireteam Finder and activity UI rather than relying on the old limitation as a universal rule.
