Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYou may see “The program can’t start because mssp3nl.dll is missing from your computer,” “mssp3nl.dll was not found,” or “The code execution cannot proceed because mssp3nl.dll was not found.” mssp3nl.dll is identified as the Dutch spelling component in Polderland mssp3nl.dll 1.3, developed by Polderland Language & Speech Technology.
The 60-second answer
Do not download mssp3nl.dll from a DLL website and do not copy a replacement from another computer.
The file is a Dutch spelling-checking component, not a confirmed Windows system file. The safest repair is to identify the program that is calling it, then repair or reinstall that program and its Dutch language or proofing feature. An older Microsoft Office installation or proofing-tools component is a plausible source, but the exact host application is not confirmed.
Use this order:
- Identify the application named in the error.
- Repair or reinstall that application from its original installer.
- Reinstall its Dutch language or proofing component if available.
- Check antivirus quarantine.
- Confirm that the application and DLL architecture match.
- Run Windows repair commands only if other Windows files are also failing.
- Collect the full error details if the problem remains.
What is mssp3nl.dll?
The supplied file description calls mssp3nl.dll “Dutch speller .dll.” Its product attribution is Polderland mssp3nl.dll 1.3, with Polderland Language & Speech Technology listed as the developer.

That identifies the file as a Dutch spelling or proofing component used by an application. It does not establish that the file ships with Windows, belongs to a specific Office release, or must be installed in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
The exact file size, checksum, bitness, installation path, and verified parent application are not established here. Its association with older proofing software makes a 32-bit component plausible, but that remains an inference rather than a confirmed specification.
Why the error appears
The application usually expects the DLL in a location associated with its own installation. The error can appear after:
- An Office or language-pack removal
- An incomplete application uninstall
- A failed installer or interrupted update
- Reinstalling an older program
- Antivirus quarantine
- Disk cleanup or manual deletion
- Restoring an old system image
- Moving software from one computer to another
- Installing several Office versions or language packs
- Using a 32-bit application with an incomplete or incompatible component
A missing file is not always the only problem. A damaged, incompatible, incorrectly located, or blocked DLL can produce similar loader messages, including:
- “The application or DLL mssp3nl.dll is not a valid Windows image.”
- “mssp3nl.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.”
- “The program can’t start because mssp3nl.dll is missing from your computer.”
The wording varies by Windows version and by the application that loads the file.
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the application that needs it
This is the most likely fix because mssp3nl.dll is identified as an application component rather than a confirmed Windows component.
Identify the parent application
First determine which program is making the request.
- Read the complete error window and note the executable name if it is shown.
- Look at the window title and the application icon.
- If the error appears during startup, check which program launches at the same time.
- Right-click the application shortcut and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, note the path in Target.
- Record the program name and installation folder.
If the message appears before any visible program opens, check startup entries:
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
- Select Startup apps.
- Look for an older Office-related program, proofing utility, add-in, launcher, or document application.
- Do not disable entries permanently yet. Record their names first.
The executable name matters because the apparent parent may not be Office. An add-in, startup helper, or another legacy application may be calling the Polderland component.
Use Windows’ repair option
For a conventional desktop application:
- Press Windows and type Control Panel.
- Open Control Panel.
- Select Programs, then Programs and Features.
- Select the suspected application.
- Choose Change, Repair, or Modify, depending on what the installer provides.
- If a feature list appears, select Dutch proofing, spelling, language, or editing tools if available.
- Complete the repair.
- Restart Windows.
- Open the affected application again.
For an application installed through Windows Settings:
- Press Windows+I.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps or Apps & features.
- Find the application.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
- Test the program after the repair.
- If Repair does not work, return to the same screen and select Reset only if you understand that it may remove application data and settings.
A successful repair normally means the application opens without the loader message and its spelling or proofing function works again. If the error returns, use the original installer to remove and reinstall the application rather than adding a loose DLL.
Reinstall from original media
If no repair option exists:
- Find the original installer, organization deployment package, or publisher-provided installation media.
- Close the affected application.
- Uninstall the damaged application from Control Panel > Programs and Features or Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the original installer by right-clicking it and selecting Run as administrator.
- Choose the Dutch language or proofing feature if the installer offers selectable components.
- Finish the installation and restart Windows.
- Test the original program.
Do not assume that any Office installer contains this exact file. The supplied evidence does not confirm a particular Office edition or proofing-tools package. Use the installer associated with the application that generated the error.
If the program came from a launcher, use that launcher’s Verify, Repair, or Scan and repair function. This is useful only when the launcher owns the installation and can restore its original files.
Fix 2: Check antivirus quarantine before restoring anything
Security software may have removed or quarantined the file. A filename alone does not prove that a DLL is safe.
Check Windows Security
- Press Windows+I.
- Select Privacy & security.
- Select Windows Security.
- Open Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
mssp3nl.dllor the affected application. - Open the event details.
- Confirm the original file path and the application associated with it.
Do not select Allow on device automatically. First confirm that:
- The path belongs to the application you intended to install.
- The file came from the original installer.
- The application itself is legitimate.
- The security product does not identify continuing suspicious activity.
If the file was removed from a legitimate application, repair or reinstall that application after reviewing the detection. Reinstalling from the publisher’s original media is safer than restoring a loose DLL downloaded elsewhere.

If the detection remains or the file is located in an unexpected temporary or user-profile directory, leave it quarantined and run a full scan. A DLL with a familiar name in an unrelated directory deserves investigation.
Fix 3: Check architecture and legacy compatibility
A 32-bit application can require a 32-bit copy of a DLL even when it runs on 64-bit Windows. Installing a similarly named file from another release can create a version or architecture mismatch.
Do not infer the architecture of mssp3nl.dll from its name. The available file information does not verify whether it is 32-bit or 64-bit.
To check the application:
- Open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
- Start the affected program if possible.
- Select the Details tab.
- Right-click a column heading and choose Select columns.
- Enable Platform if your Windows version provides it.
- Check whether the application is listed as 32-bit or 64-bit.
You can also inspect the installer’s documentation or the application’s Properties > Details tab. If the original program is old, use its matching installer and language component rather than attempting to modernize one DLL.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →On 64-bit Windows, do not manually move files between System32 and SysWOW64. Those folders serve different purposes, and the correct location depends on the installer and the application. A properly designed installer places the component where its host expects it.
Fix 4: Update the application and related components
If the original application still opens partially:
- Open its Help, About, or Settings menu.
- Look for Check for updates.
- Install updates supplied by the application’s publisher.
- Restart Windows.
- Test the program again.
If the error involves a document editor, add-in, or older Office installation, check for conflicting versions:
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Review installed Office products and language packs.
- Note duplicate or partially removed entries.
- Repair the installation that matches the affected program.
- Remove only an obsolete installation when you are certain it is no longer required.
Do not install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET solely because mssp3nl.dll is missing. Those runtime packages are relevant only if the complete error identifies a missing runtime dependency. Microsoft’s official Visual C++ Redistributable documentation can help when a separate error explicitly names that runtime.
Fix 5: Update Windows and check related drivers
Windows Update is not expected to restore a third-party Polderland spelling DLL, but keeping Windows current can resolve broader compatibility or installer problems.
- Press Windows+I.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart when prompted.
- Test the affected application.
Device drivers are not a normal cause of a missing spelling DLL. Check them only when the error started alongside wider application crashes, display problems, storage errors, or an upgrade.
To inspect drivers:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand categories related to the symptoms, such as Storage controllers, Display adapters, or System devices.
- Right-click a relevant device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
Avoid replacing unrelated drivers simply because the DLL error is present.
When manually checking many devices and versions becomes impractical, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan and show which drivers are stale; its full version performs the driver installation. It is optional, and reinstalling the application remains the definitive fix when that application owns mssp3nl.dll.
Fix 6: Repair Windows components only when Windows corruption is plausible
SFC and DISM repair protected Windows components. They will not normally recreate a third-party Polderland DLL.
Recommended Free Tools
Use these commands when several unrelated Windows features are failing, Windows reports damaged system files, updates are broken, or disk corruption may have affected system components.
Run DISM first
- Press Windows and type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Approve the User Account Control prompt.
- Enter:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Press Enter.
- Wait for the command to finish.
- Restart Windows if requested.
Run System File Checker second
Open an elevated Command Prompt again and run:
sfc /scannow
Wait until verification reaches 100 percent. Then restart Windows and test the affected application.
Possible results include:
- Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations: Windows protected files appear intact.
- Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them: restart and test again.
- Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them: review the application repair steps again and investigate broader Windows or disk problems.
Microsoft documents the commands in its SFC reference, DISM reference, and System File Checker support guide.
Running SFC successfully does not prove that mssp3nl.dll has been restored. Test the application and confirm that its own installation contains the required component.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why regsvr32 is usually the wrong fix
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose the COM registration entry point DllRegisterServer. A spelling-checker component is normally loaded by its host application and is not necessarily a self-registering COM library.

- PRODUCT SHIPS IN PLAIN ENVELOPE | Activation key is located under scratch-off area on label.
- GENUINE WINDOWS SOFTWARE IS BRANDED BY MIRCOSOFT ONLY.
Running a command such as this is therefore not a general repair:
regsvr32 mssp3nl.dll
If the DLL is not self-registering, Windows may report that the module was loaded but the entry point DllRegisterServer was not found. That does not mean the file is repaired or that it belongs in a system folder.
Use regsvr32 only when the application’s official documentation specifically instructs you to register that exact DLL and provides the correct path and architecture.
Why downloading a replacement DLL is unsafe
Random DLL download sites sites can provide:
- Malware disguised as a system or application file
- The wrong release
- The wrong 32-bit or 64-bit architecture
- A file with missing dependencies
- A file intended for a different application
- A replacement that hides the original installation problem
Copying mssp3nl.dll from another PC can also create version, licensing, and dependency mismatches. It may make the error change rather than disappear.
The safe sources are the original application installer, the application publisher’s supported update channel, an organization’s licensed deployment media, or a launcher’s built-in repair function. Do not use a loose DLL as a substitute for repairing the program that installed it.

If reinstalling the apparent parent application does not help, the message may be coming from a different legacy application, add-in, startup entry, or language component. Use the executable name and path to identify the real caller.
System Restore is a fallback for a failure that clearly began after a known system change. It can affect unrelated applications and should not be the first response to an application-specific missing DLL.
FAQ
Is mssp3nl.dll part of Windows?
That is not established. The available identification associates it with Polderland’s Dutch spelling component, so do not assume it is a protected Windows file or that Windows Update will restore it.
Does mssp3nl.dll belong to Microsoft Office?
An older Office or Dutch proofing installation is a plausible source, but a specific Office release or package has not been confirmed. Identify the executable that reports the error before repairing Office.
Is mssp3nl.dll malware?
The filename alone cannot establish whether a file is safe. Check its path, digital signature, parent application, installer source, and antivirus history. An unexpected copy deserves a security scan.
Is the file 32-bit or 64-bit?
The available information does not verify its architecture. Match the application and component supplied by the original installer, particularly when running older 32-bit software on 64-bit Windows.
Will SFC fix the error?
Usually not. SFC repairs protected Windows files, while mssp3nl.dll is identified as an application spelling component. Run SFC when broader Windows corruption is suspected, not as a replacement for reinstalling the parent application.
Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Not merely because this DLL is missing. Install a runtime only when the complete error identifies that runtime as a separate missing dependency.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Can I register the DLL with regsvr32?
Usually no. Spell-checker DLLs are not necessarily self-registering COM libraries, and regsvr32 commonly produces an entry-point error for files that do not support registration.
What is the definitive fix?
Repair or reinstall the application that originally installed the Dutch proofing component, using its original installer and matching language or architecture options.
